Splash -yes he is fine now but now tends to get ill quickly.
Noni- He had never seen any snow other than flurries. Now he hates snow. I cant blame him so do I.
Noni-Splash-Oleander-My son is out today trying to find a car to buy. He said the base was huge and it was dangerous for pedestrian traffic.
FIBroomie...Is your son ok now? that can take a long time to heal from. I think they get so run down in BC that if they do get sick it is worse than usual. . My daughter got really sick in boot camp and was SIQ for almost 3 weeks. She was in the ER three times. I cannot believe she passed but she is extremely strong willed. She was told not to go to the Dr while in BC or she might be sent home so she did not. She was running and collapsed with a 105 fever. She did not fully recover until about April. She became anemic as well. This is a healthy physically strong girl. She was a competition cheer leader.
My oldest told me that when my girl was taking her last run test she said she thought she was going to die. And when they yelled the remaining time she told her sister that she ran as fast and hard as she could because if she did not pass she would not be able to see me the next day. I was adopting her for Thanksgiving. I cried when I heard that.
Oleander...What does DC do? We are not with USAA. We use GEICO. We used our credit union for the loan 2%). And kept the car registered in Minnesota. She does pay insurance rates for CA because that is where the car is located. My oldest lives in Kingman AZ and bought the car at a dealership there because she knew someone that was linked to the dealership. Then my sailors twin brother flew to AZ to visit that sister so it was the perfect opportunity to drive the car to SD for my sailor.
Hi Oleander -my son ended up with pneumonia several times while there. What rate is your daughter ?
FIBroomie...yes all of the bases are huge. I was there in March and was really surprised at their size. Do you know how long he will be in SD? Will the Navy ship his car to HI? I would tell him to ask around for referral to auto dealers. My daughter ran into some big promlems and we finally bought her a car in AZ (where my oldest lives). Although she is a girl that knows nothing about cars. Until he gets a car I have heard that there is a shuttle on base and the other sailors are usually really good at giving rides. Which base is he on?
Splash- yes his PIR was 12-5-15. He has been stuck at GL since graduation and finally got to SD on Sunday. He is in SD to finish his GM training and then goes on to be stationed in Pearl. He has already started shopping for a car says the base is too big to get around on foot.
Noni...I feel bad for all the kids from southern states that wnet to boot camp in the winter. What a shock!
My daughter is not on a ship. She is on the Amphibious base. She works with the Sea Bees.
