OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Make at least change 3 at the bottom of OPSEC and PERSEC (Making Changes to Your Profile) (clickable link).

There may be other changes you need to make as well, so read and consider each of the changes.

Another change that I recommend that is mentioned in change 1 is to change the ZIP Code to one that is not easily associated with you or your Sailor.

I found you on the "Moms of GMs" page.  My son's PIR was also on 12-5-14 and was on hold until the beginning of March I think and was also on the Essex.  He has 5 weeks to go for A school and I don't remember what the name of the ship is he is on now.  I wonder if they know each other?  I am counting down the days and hoping he gets to come home before he reports to his next station.  We are very excited for him and to see where he is going next on his life's adventure and journey!!

Correction....I had a slight change...I won't be wearing my Seahawks sweatshirt...I will have a DIV904 Sweatshirt with a Kraken (Octopus) on the back of it.  Maybe see you there! Cheers!

Hi there FIBroomie!  I'm soooo sorry I did not see this post until now.  Wasn't that a great ceremony today!!!  Were you at the Meet-n-Greet?  We were with a couple other 904 families.  We were located at the table between the gift baskets and the donation box on the food table.   We plan on being a the airport tonight so if you're there, look for some Seahawk shirts and sweatshirts...and that's me!    My son is Noah (SR SAGAWINIT) fills in for the AROC and does cadence for the division when they march...so maybe your SR knows my son.  CONGRATULATIONS TO YOU, YOUR FAMILY AND YOUR SON...AWESOME STUFF!!!

Since you have a recruit at the RTC, you can change "Waiting to leave for Boot Camp" above to "Enlisted."

Welcome to Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones). I look forward to sharing this journey with you. Be sure to check out the Pages (found under the pictures of the Members) for information on what to expect and to help you prepare for PIR. Start with OPSEC and PERSEC (Making Changes to Your Profile) and Arrival and What Happens at the RTC and read 1 or 2 pages a day and then go back to them as you need the info. What is your recruit's rating (job/specialty) going to be? There are groups for most ratings and/or "A" Schools and knowing that will help you to better plan for PIR weekend. Take care and blessings to you and yours.
