does anyone know know if the meals in the chow hall are free, or do the sailors have to pay?
Good morning. My son has been in SD since the end of April. He is in C School until December. Waiting to hear what his orders will be after graduation.
Hi Everyone,
i am new to this group. My son graduated from boot camp about three weeks ago. He is in A school training in Chicago now and will be leaving in a couple weeks. He then has about ten days leave, then goes to San Diego. We are unsure of the details of how he gets to San Diego. Do we book him a flight from home to San Diego ourselves or is this done through the navy somehow? If anyone knows how all this works it would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you!
Hello Everyone I'm excited to be a part of this group, my Son is headed to San Diego for the next few years I'm trying to gather all the info that I can. Anything will be helpful, thanks!!!
So Question will he have to make the plans for us or would we have to call and ask for a tour? I was told that North Island is very Nice, nothing like 32nd ST. So according to what I heard he really lucked out. Been on Coronado and it was a very nice place. But really excited to see the base and all. Thanks Oleander.
I am really very Thankful for everybody and anybody who can show me the ropes, being this is a whole new Round for me.
He will be reporting to the USS Roosevelt CVN 71. I believe a Aircraft Carrier. Now this is according to him/Sea Duty. So he is just waiting he said. And Yes I would love too take a tour on it how do you go about that? Even though say they are having Duty watch and working on it, you can tour?
I was actually expecting him to come home since he didn't have to be there until today, but that didn't happen. But he is really close like 5 hrs away, so I am hoping we can get down there soon. My Grandson whom is 3 is wanting to see the big Ships and so curious. Every time he sees Ships on T.V. he say's theirs BUD. (short for Buddy) he really misses him.
I will have to learn all of this New stuff hopefully I can be as good as you. You seem to have it down Packed.
Good Afternoon Oleander thank you for the reply, Ok this makes sense now. Yea he was telling me he just stays in his room so I was wondering as to why he wasn't doing anything.
I can imagine the long wait, Glad to hear your Daughter is back and doing well. Very Nice Homecoming Indeed!
We face timed with him on Friday evening he and a Buddy he met in BC the time he was there met up. So they went out for Dinner. He seemed really happy, he mentioned this is way better than being in Chicago, LOL I can imagine so. Thank You again for explaining.
Hi Ladies, well my son is settled on North Island and was given a room by himself. He stated he hasn't done anything, and that he is waiting on his Ship. Can anyone explain how this all works because I am totally Lost. His Rate is a EMFN so waiting on his Ship Means? will he begin to start doing something like working, when his Ship comes in is that where he will be living on the ship and working. I appreciate any help Thank You.
