Good Afternoon Ladies, I am new to this site and just do not know where to begin. My son is finishing up A school in Great Lakes, he received his orders to go to San Diego, I believe by Feb. 7th. Now with that being said Question or questions. So will he flown to San Diego and when he gets there will he go to the USO there? will someone be waiting to take him to base or will he have to find his own way? Do they need to be in Uniform? I just don't know the steps as to how it begins. and speaking to him he has not been given instruction, I am guessing they are waiting for that Day? if someone could walk me thru the steps I would greatly appreciate it.
My son just received his first set of orders and he couldn't be more thrilled to be headed to San Diego - it was one of the ones on his dream sheet (I am pretty sure it was first on his list). That said, its 3000 miles away from home, and this will be the first year he will not be around for some major family holidays. Not sure how to deal with this :(
@ Noni, thanks for your reply. Sorry I just saw it today. Im not on this site that much. All is fine with our sailor , as far as we know. He calls about once a week to check in. His ship just returned from an underway and will go out again in a week or so. Its just hard not knowing ANYONE out in SD or his friends.... :( Im sure I'll have questions for everyone in the future. As for now, holding pattern, all seems to be good. No news is good news, right?
Hello all. Just came across this group and curious if it is still active. We have 2 sailors active duty, one in Kings Bay, Ga and the other in San Diego. Sailor #2 has only been in SD for 3 months and is Undes and on the USS Anchorage. He seems to be adapting just fine. We had planned on visiting him in July but will have to wait til December to hopefully see him.
thanks for letting me join!
Thank you for the info.
Thanks, where is river city? Will they not be able to contact us for a while?
