For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Don't assume the enemy is not trying to collect information on you so he can kill you, he is!
Be smart, use your head, and always think OPSEC and COMSEC when using email or phone!
Rules of thumb for parents and loved ones:
*If your sailor indicates to you they can't tell you something, believe them. Don't try to coax them into telling.
*If it is published by the navy about where a ship or unit has been (not going), that is when it's okay to share.
*If your sailor is in a high security area, say a nuke or EOD, consider using a nick name for them and you, a seperate email without your name on it, and don't even tell where YOU live. Let them tell you what they want you to tell others or if they are worried about info, always let them know you are on here. That's why they are careful on here about only putting first names on your profile page.
*Be aware, the OPSEC 10 points are about what they can't talk about. Think about what YOU might share as a parent or loved one of a military member that could cause trouble. You also have a responsibilty.
*Be respectful and teach other parents if they don't know and say too much, no need to be disrespectful or mean to them about it. Just guide them and let them know they maybe need to rewrite or delete the post. There isn't a member on here that wants to cause trouble or harm. They just aren't thinking or don't know.

Thanks to all for your prayers, I am also praying for my son and all the military, especially those deployed this Christmas! My son is in Iraq, also the first Christmas away from home and loved ones. My son has been away since 6/08.

Rebecca isyou son in Gulfport? What is he going to do in A school? We are glad to have Michael home, but at the same time I worry that he will get bored here - I just don't want him to hang around with some of the people that he needed to get away from. He said that he will probably be going to Iraq or Afganistan in January. So I just worry- thats what we do, and pray alot

My son said that he didn't think they read his mail at all.Nothing was opened- he said that they might have held it a few days. He was in GL for BC and graduated from Gulfport- A school. He is a reserve seabee and is home with us now, and should be here through the holidays,

Thanks Carol I just don't want him to get discouraged.Is your son home also? I just think that if Michael finds a job he will feel better-He was also talking about something elsenot active duty- something else- I can't remember, another senior moment

Michael will be home for the holidays, he just has to do the one weekend a month thing - he is a Seabee a builder so hopefully he can find a job, I think he is happy to be home but I also think he is somewhat discouraged that there doesn't seem to be any construction jobs right now. He said that he may want to go active after the holidays.

Hi Laurie. Mark has been in Gulfport since a June 07. He joined the Navy in Jan of 07. Where is your son deployed?
