Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Don't speculate about future operations!
Don't spread rumors about operations!
Don't assume the enemy is not trying to collect information on you so he can kill you, he is!
Be smart, use your head, and always think OPSEC and COMSEC when using email or phone!
Rules of thumb for parents and loved ones:
*If your sailor indicates to you they can't tell you something, believe them. Don't try to coax them into telling.
*If it is published by the navy about where a ship or unit has been (not going), that is when it's okay to share.
*If your sailor is in a high security area, say a nuke or EOD, consider using a nick name for them and you, a seperate email without your name on it, and don't even tell where YOU live. Let them tell you what they want you to tell others or if they are worried about info, always let them know you are on here. That's why they are careful on here about only putting first names on your profile page.
*Be aware, the OPSEC 10 points are about what they can't talk about. Think about what YOU might share as a parent or loved one of a military member that could cause trouble. You also have a responsibilty.
*Be respectful and teach other parents if they don't know and say too much, no need to be disrespectful or mean to them about it. Just guide them and let them know they maybe need to rewrite or delete the post. There isn't a member on here that wants to cause trouble or harm. They just aren't thinking or don't know.

Is she at Gulfport? You can go down to visit her there. Fly into New Orleans (Southwest is the cheapest) and drive the 2 hours over. It is beautiful there!

Navyhubby FF- Yep!! My son got to GulfPort Aug 31 and didn't start training till Late October. They fill each training group in Alpha order based in the arrival date with those coming from the Fleet getting first priority then other branches, and finally the new Sailors. Sadly he still left GL the day after PIR! No extra days for us.

My bee is in San Diego and wants to buy a car. Does anyone have any place I can refer him...he's only 19 and doesn't really know what to look for. He's only been there for a month and having a hard time hooking up with some new friends so he's a bit lonely. I've encouraged him to get involved in activities at the Base so he has tried flag football which he loved and hopes to continue. Are there any suggestions on other activities I can point him towards?

My bee went to A school in Pt Hueneme as a cmca. He is now stationed in Coronado, CA. Loves it. Didn't get car until he got to Coronado.

Tereza(Angels Mom) and AuburnLark- Deployments are tough! This is our 2nd one. The 1st one was incredibly hard because he was in a combat zone, and in my mind, the worst possibly place on the planet! (6 months from the time he went to BC, btw) I didn't breath for 6 months. I am also grateful that I didn't know what he was was doing/ exactly where he was, because I could still believe that he was in a little bubble of protection. I am not so naive now, which is not necessarily a good thing. I liked my little bubble. This site gave me some comfort and connected me to other moms who were going through the same thing. I also joined Blue Star Moms and connected with other military moms in the area. This deployment is not in a combat zone (Thank God) but is on the other side of the world, so communication will be tough. He is supposed to be back in Feb. I know he can go off base on the weekends and his new wife is planning a visit. He will have his own room and WiFi. My mind is much more at ease with this one! Just remember, when you think you are falling apart, this is a place you can go to get support. You don't have to be so strong here. But, other moms don't hide the truth from you either. :)
