It's hard not knowing! That is the purpose for this group. Most likely if you are here your SR has had trouble keeping up or not passed a PFA due to some sort of minor medical issue. Often it stress fractures bringing SR's here. Know this when you don’t get a call that is a very good thing. Calling them is not a good thing and it can negatively impact your SR to have his or her “Mommy“ calling! They are harder on them in this DIV than any other. They want them up and out. The best thing you can do is sends tons of mail. Send scripture and motivational mail. I know my SR said reading the Bible was considered a sign of weakness here. When you get a tearful call motivate. Stay positive and encourage you SR. This is a small detour to greatness and getting the I'm a Sailor call! Recruit family and friends…“Navy mom friends are the best“…to send your SR mail as well. NMH for you all!!

He looks EXACTLY the same -- It's so funny because I (honestly) expected him to look different -- he sounds so different on the phone -- more mature and just... different -- he has a different and more grown up view of things now. Who would have known how they change through this experience. He still has the same sense of humor though.
Saturday was my birthday and he called (before the Skype thing). I've been telling everyone that my age is --whatever-- between 25 & 30 (those were good years, weren't they?), so he asked how old I am this year. I told him that this year I'm 28. He said, "Mom, you know you look great for 28!" I then hear someone in the background say, "Your mom's 28? REALLY?" My son said, "Yeah, and I'm 20, so get real!! We like to make her feel good on her birthday, okay, Bonehead!" I couldn't help just laughing about that. Yup, still the same guy where it counts.
Me too! At work so don't have much time to post, but...
Janet, did he look way different?? :) Happy for you too!
Sharon, I think you're right. We seem to just be waiting and waiting. But I'm so afraid to make any definite plans right now, because I'm sure that the minute I do, he will end up shipping out. He keeps telling us to just wait -- we did get to see him via Skype on Saturday for about 1 minute only, but actually seeing his face was a complete relief.
Navy2011Mom, Nope, no word, via phone or letter, from my SR regarding phase 4. At least not yet - I'm hoping for a letter since they didn't get to call this weekend. When I served, the motto we heard was "Hurry up and wait!" which sounds like what is happening with your SR waiting in THU.
Patrick'sMom, Hope you had a fabulous time in Groton.
Sharon
Hi Karen... Nothing yet!! He's still at THU waiting for his orders -- he keeps saying ANY DAY NOW... We really are hoping that it happens this week. If so, we'll probably fly out at the end of the month. I'm keeping my fingers crossed. Thanks so much and I'll be sure to let you know!!
Any phone calls for anyone this weekend? Just curious, and hoping that it ended up happening for all the ladies!! If not calls, hopefully everyone received letters.
Sharon... any word on Phase 4?? It should be getting close now!
Hugs to all...
-Janet
Happy Easter everyone! Was hoping for a phone call today!
Thanks so much for the good wishes Sharon, and boomMom, you are sooooo right. Eventually you will all know this joy. I'm hesitant to even share it here, when you all are waiting to see your beautiful children, but PRAY that somehow my sharing gives you hope and joy as to what the future will hold for you and your Sailor!!! I can't tell you after bootcamp what it's like to be able to text him whenever I want, or call him, or even comment on his Facebook page. Although they still will never live home with us again, I can't imagine ANYTHING as hard as boot camp was with no/limited communcation. If we Moms can make it through THAT, (and we Moms here deserve an extra special commendation cause we and our Sailors have made it through MUCH MORE than just "boot camp"), we can make it through ANYTHING the Navy might throw our way!
Janet - Any word on travel plans to Texas yet? Really been thinking of you and your long anticipated reunion with Garrett!
HAPPY EASTER ALL!
With love and hugs,
Karen
Oh Angie... It sure has been a long time coming, but FINALLY home!!! ;))
Please let us know how she's doing. I can't stop thinking about her -- poor girl! Talk about having it rough. I'm so glad she's home with you now. Things will be better from here on out.
Hugs!!
-Janet
LOL! Janet! Maybe USPS tries to save money on gas and waits until the trailers are full to the brim before driving the mail out! That's what happens when you guys are "contiguous". lol Our mail gets thrown straight on the plane because our canoe delivery is once every month (and a half!)! I shouldn't make fun of USPS; I have family who work there! rofl! <whispering> I'll take email any day!
AngieT-big hugs to you and your daughter! Everything will be just fine now, you'll see!
Hiya Karen! I know it's still not like having Patrick home with you, but it sure beats bc, right?
SharonW- Today! Today! Today! ;-D
Wishing all you Ladies a letter AND phone call this weekend! (it worked last week ;-)) ~*+~*+~*+~*+~*+~*+~*+~*+
