It's hard not knowing! That is the purpose for this group. Most likely if you are here your SR has had trouble keeping up or not passed a PFA due to some sort of minor medical issue. Often it stress fractures bringing SR's here. Know this when you don’t get a call that is a very good thing. Calling them is not a good thing and it can negatively impact your SR to have his or her “Mommy“ calling!  They are harder on them in this DIV than any other. They want them up and out. The best thing you can do is sends tons of mail. Send scripture and motivational mail. I know my SR said reading the Bible was considered a sign of weakness here. When you get a tearful call motivate. Stay positive and encourage you SR. This is a small detour to greatness and getting the I'm a Sailor call!  Recruit family and friends…“Navy mom friends are the best“…to send your SR mail as well.  NMH for you all!!

AngieT, I am so happy to know your daughter is home with you now.  Please keep us posted on how she is doing and what she decides to do about a possible nursing career.

Patrick'sMom, Have a wonderful and blessed time in Groton with your Sailor and family.

Hi Angie, by now you should have your girl home with you.  Hoping your reunion was everything you both wanted it to be, and you enjoy the days ahead together!  May all good things be granted unto your girl!

Wow BoomMom...   Letters on Wed., 2 weeks in a row.  Maybe he will continue writing like this (hopefully).  Hard to believe you get the mail so quickly all the way out in Hawaii -- No delay with the US Post Office there, which is FANTASTIC!!  It really makes me question my local Post Office delivery times.

The emotional rollercoaster will continue through RCU, but it's great to know that he seems to be doing better after the fun weekend.  It really is weird how their letters and calls seem to change as they go along, isn't it?  The military certainly does seem to speed up the maturity process (at least in the boys -- I don't know about the girls since they are normally more mature anyway...)

Great to hear about the letter.  Hoping for a phone call for you again this weekend!

Hi to everyone and welcome to all the new people.   For those who don't know me - my daughter was suppose to graduate on 3/16, about 1 1/2 from that date i get a call "mom I have stress fractures and not graduating"..  a week after that I got the another call "I have 10 stress fractures and a thing called osteopenia - they are sending me home, but I have to heal first".    About 12 business days ago I have a post on facebook Love you mom, when I asked her how she was on facebook, she replied in ship 5 you get to get on internet for 6.00 an hour - I new she was out of ship 4.  She called and said it takes about 10 business days to go home, and by the way bring crutches to when you pick me up (If she says anything about still hurting they will send her back to RCU and delay her coming home).    Got a call Monday - I'm not coming home on Wednesday they didn't call my name (tears from both of us).   Got a call Tuesday morning - Mom coming home Thursday - don't know when they will tell me Wednesday Night.    Got a call Tuesday night (unusual) she said everyone from Texas had to go phone home and check on families (sigh of relief -still coming home).     I pick her up at 5:50 tonight from the airport :)))))....    Thank you everyone for the support on here - I couldn't have gotten through this without everyone...

Hi all! I got a letter from my son yesterday! Second Wednesday in a row! He sounded both defeated :-( and amped! :-) So bipolar like me. ;-P He was down one day; wrote some pretty sad stuff, and then he continues with the furlough this past Saturday and he feels ready for anything! Although he's still not happy about the Phase 3 "walking" phase! He wants to run! Who's son is this?!? Mine?!? Yup, he's mine! Maturing does some strange things to people, I guess. I need to go and pound out a letter to him, now, before I have to go to work later. Sometimes it'll take me 2 to 3 hours just to get a page worth. I hope everyone else got a letter (or will get a letter) or get a call (right, Sharon? Friday! Friday! Friday!) this weekend. Just hang in there, Ladies!

Go get 'em, Karen! Have a wonderful visit! I noticed that you "edit" yourself, too! ;-)

I could swear there were other posts, but now I don't see them. ?!?!? Was there something wrong with them, Parrothdgal?

Have a wonderful and safe Easter weekend, Everyone!

Hi Ladies, I haven't been here in several days due to a broken computer at home, but my husband brought his laptop home tonight, so I got a bit caught up!

Wow!  Lots has happened around here, and I wish I had more time tonight to respond personally to each of you, but unfortunately I do not.  Please allow this brief message to suffice for now.

First of all, WELCOME to those new Moms who have joined us.  The Moms here have given you wonderful information, and I'm so proud of the warm welcome that has been extended to each of you.  These ladies truly are the best of the best!

Second, for those of you whose children are progressing and healing, PRAISE THE LORD!  I continue to lift them and you in prayer daily.  Adding you new Mom's and your SR's to my prayers.

Third, thank you to those of you who asked about our potential visit to see Patrick for Easter.  (My son is in Groton, CT for sub-school after a 4 month stay at boot camp due to being in the RCU for what else?  Stress Fractures!).  Things did work out, and my husband and I are traveling there with my son's grandparents (my parents) who haven't seen their grandson since his going away party the week before Thanksgiving.  It truly will be a special and very blessed Easter.

You ALL will eventually be sharing happy stories like this too.  Keep the faith, keep writing those encouraging letters, keep coming here to encourage and lift each other up, and most importantly, keep praying.  God is hearing your prayers and working on them at this very moment!!!

HAPPY EASTER TO ALL!

With much love and hugs,

Karen

Wow! Parrothdgal, the queen mother has arrived <genuflecting> I (we) owe all this to you! If it wasn't for you, we wouldn't have a place to answer our specific questions and also understand our needs! To think that this group hasn't even been around for a year! Thanks Parrothdgal! I will keep the long term healing process in mind. As if this little bump-in-the-road isn't long enough! ;-P

What exactly does an administrator do on these boards? I'm not volunteering; just that enquiring minds might want to know! I was actually thinking about you, Parrothdgal, and wondering who you were and how long ago you started this group and why. And then Poof! here you are! I actually think this group runs itself and the bunch of ladies here are the greatest people ever! When their SR's leave, they "eventually" will leave too and that's okay! Sadly, though, there will always be someone here to lend an ear or share a high-five or a hug! Information? We got that and then some! Well, it's more experience than info; it might not be "official", but it's real.

PNSCTNMom-I'm glad your son is well enough to get out of the hospital. What a ride that must have been for you and your family and especially your SR! My son was on his second to the last week when he couldn't pass his run test and he was put into FIT (I'm not sure what this means except that this is where the SR's who don't pass their run time, swim time, etc. by the time the division is ready to be processed out) About three weeks later (4 weeks ago), they find that he has a rapid heartbeat and now he's in RCU. I pray a speedy recovery for your son to get back with his division because, thank goodness, it doesn't seem like a stress fracture.

Sharon-still praying for that call for you! <chanting> Friday! Friday! Friday! :-D

Is anyone wanting to take on admin for this group? I hardly even have the time anymore. I'm just happy it's getting such good use...I had no information when my daughter got stress fractures in her legs and foot. She is doing great but the fractures are still present after nearly a year. It takes being off your feel long term. Something to think about ..AFTER A school...lol

PNSCTNMom, I'm glad to hear your son is on the mend though what a bummer to get hurt on 1-1 day!  It's a bummer when any of the SRs get hurt.  Sounds like he won't be in the RCU too long.

My son was half way through boot camp when he was sent to RCU.  He said once he got over the initial shock of the transfer, the hardest part was returning to his division and telling his friends he was leaving.

It was tough getting that call and, as you said, not being able to be there with him.

Today was his latest doctor visit and he's hoping to return to phase 4 - again - and do what he needs to do to finish bootcamp.  I look forward to seeing him once he finishes bootcamp and is transferred to the THU.  I understand that Chicago is lovely in the spring.

All is good,

Sharon

SharonW

My kid injured a muscle(s) that threw some toxins into his system which is treated by IV to flush it out.  He was released after 5 days and is very happy to be back at Boot Camp.

The hard part was not jumping on a plane to go to his side when he called to tell us he was hospitalized.

I can see from all of the info shared here that he (and I) is in a good place.

Fortunately, he was on 1-1 day when this happened.  Can't imagine being in some of these kids shoes who have been through the better part of Boot Camp only to be sidelined with an injury that only time will heal.

I tend to be an optimist and am thankful that I had the opportunity to talk to him rather than having to wait for a letter. These are the experiences that remind us that 'life is what happens when you are making plans'

I'm also thankful that I've stumbled upon this group and am sending up prayers for everyones speedy recovery.
