It's hard not knowing! That is the purpose for this group. Most likely if you are here your SR has had trouble keeping up or not passed a PFA due to some sort of minor medical issue. Often it stress fractures bringing SR's here. Know this when you don’t get a call that is a very good thing. Calling them is not a good thing and it can negatively impact your SR to have his or her “Mommy“ calling! They are harder on them in this DIV than any other. They want them up and out. The best thing you can do is sends tons of mail. Send scripture and motivational mail. I know my SR said reading the Bible was considered a sign of weakness here. When you get a tearful call motivate. Stay positive and encourage you SR. This is a small detour to greatness and getting the I'm a Sailor call! Recruit family and friends…“Navy mom friends are the best“…to send your SR mail as well. NMH for you all!!

Hi - got a letter today dated March 9. Laura is still in ship 4 - said it was very depressing - nursing homes are more chipper - there are a few people who do not make it so depressing. Anyway - she is still on crutches, but ready to come home.
Good evening ladiies! Welcome to you boomMom! I got a chuckle out of your post as well, but I'm sure you weren't laughing at all the month you didn't hear from your son. I truly don't think they have ANY idea what us Moms go through when they leave for boot camp. Sure hoping all receive good news, letters or calls VERY soon.
I got a text from Patrick on my way to work this morning. He got his orders this morning after 2 weeks and 2 days in THU (temporary holding unit), and leaves for Groton, Connecticut Submarine School tomorrow. Unfortunately, once I got out of work and was able to call him, his cell goes directly to his voicemail, so I guess I'll just have to wait to hear from him. I'm sure he's excited to move on to this next phase of Navy training, but I'm sure there must be some anxiety there as to the unknown of what he'll be facing tomorrow.
Lifting prayers for each of you and your SR's. If you could please lift a prayer for Patrick tomorrow, I'd be most grateful. Thank you in advance all you wonderful Moms! Waiting to rejoice with you as each of your SR's move on too!!!
{first time post} My SR had been 04/2444 since Feb. 5 for not passing his run test (he called that day); I got that letter on Feb. 11 telling me he liked it better because there was no yell-in-your-face mentality. That was the last contact I had from him until Friday, Mar. 9! I got a letter explaining to me that he had nothing to write BUT he was now in a new division (I'm guessing 2341) and has been since the last week of Feb.!! Needless to say, I was going crazy during the one month BEFORE the letter; now, I was LIVID! I sent off a letter making sure that the right sentiments were "readable", and basically said that I didn't care if he had nothing to write. Just write "love you, mom" on toilet paper for all I care (unused, of course ;-)), stick it in a stamped envelope and mail it out! And then he calls me the next day, Feb. 10, I heard his voice, and ALL anger just rolled off me like melted butter! I was laughing at his funny stories and I could tell him my crazy happenings with laughter as well. He's on limited light duty, now. I'm sure he chuckled when he finally received those "upset" letters. There was one letter that threatened that I would go on strike if I didn't get at least one sentence a week from him! LOL! So, he's in RCU until that health issue clears up, and then back to FIT so he can train to pass his run test. He feels that he will start again from square one because he couldn't do ANY kind of workouts. Poor baby! But reading these posts here and on other forums has helped me ebb the craziness that I was feeling, so I'd like to say thank you to all who help others like me on these discussion boards and for the ones like me who posts the questions that I would like to see answered. Good luck to all SR's and their families; congratulations to all recent Sailors and their families, and thank all for your service to our country!
Sharon... did you make your "list" for if he calls again this weekend? I haven't yet, but I really am planning to put one together.
Well, my SR is staying true to form and no letter (he doesn't like to write letters) so far this week. I would have been surprised if he did write since we did have a phone call from him on Saturday.
Jill, I did mention your son's name to mine when we spoke on Saturday so, hopefully, they have 'found' each other by now.
So, it's Thursday -- the day we normally receive letters from our SRs. I guess I'll be stalking the mailman (as usual.) Hoping we all receive letters today or tomorrow.
Hey all, I got my first letter today since he was moved to Ship 4. I was almost dreading it, because I knew how disappointed he was, but the letter wasn't as bad as I expected. Not that he's happy, of course, but learning to cope with the "go sit down for 2 months", as he put it. He hasn't gotten any of my letters, (although I've been writing every day), but he knows there's a mail delay when you move. (I thought the mail delay was from him to me, didn't realize it was from me to him as well). He says he is so appreciative that they at least have a small library there, (he doesn't know I sent him books yet).
Karen and Barb, you definitely give us hope for things to come. I'm passing along those hopes to my son also. THU sounds like heaven at this point. :) And Phillies, I don't know your story, but I suspect it's been a long journey for you, happy ending coming soon, it sounds like.
And yes, my house was still here when I got home, the fire is officially out, but I didn't get a lot of sleep last night....
Janet & Sharon, and the rest of you, always in my prayers. My son doesn't know to find your recruits yet because he hasn't gotten my letters...but he will soon.
Jacque, we're all in this together, "lean on me, and I'll lean on you, and that way we won't have to sleep with our heads in the mud". I think I'm quoting that correctly. Hang in there.
I haven't talked to Angie today, she hasn't been on FB, hope she's doing ok...
Hi Karen...
It really is nice to hear about the things we have to look forward to once our SRs become Sailors. It's great to know that Patrick is doing well. I'm so glad that you keep us up on what is going on with him. I feel like I know him from how long we've been going through this together, so thanks!
Hi Ladies,
I talked to Patrick on my way home from work Monday night and although he's still in THU waiting (if you don't know how to wait before you join the Navy, they'll certainly do an excellent job of teaching you!!!), he sounded very up and positive, which I'm so grateful for.
Then I got a text from him this morning on my way to work, and he said in the last 72 hours, he's had 40 hours of watch. Wow! That's alot! He's VERY tired! On the upside he got to go off base over the weekend and buy some new jeans. I think he said he's in Phase 2 which I think in THU means you can now wear your civvies. He had fun and was grateful to get off base for a while.
Hope all is well with everyone today and that your fire is out Jill! Prayed for you and your SR's this morning and look forward to hearing some really good news this week!!! I just have a feeling it's coming!
Karen
