It's hard not knowing! That is the purpose for this group. Most likely if you are here your SR has had trouble keeping up or not passed a PFA due to some sort of minor medical issue. Often it stress fractures bringing SR's here. Know this when you don’t get a call that is a very good thing. Calling them is not a good thing and it can negatively impact your SR to have his or her “Mommy“ calling!  They are harder on them in this DIV than any other. They want them up and out. The best thing you can do is sends tons of mail. Send scripture and motivational mail. I know my SR said reading the Bible was considered a sign of weakness here. When you get a tearful call motivate. Stay positive and encourage you SR. This is a small detour to greatness and getting the I'm a Sailor call!  Recruit family and friends…“Navy mom friends are the best“…to send your SR mail as well.  NMH for you all!!

Oh, Sharon...  I meant to tell you, I sent the first four book of the Game of Thrones series to my son as well.  Obviously, they have the same taste in books.  Funny!!

Hi Jacque...   Stress fractures sure do seem to be a common theme among the kids that end up in RCU.  I'm so sorry for your daughter, but so happy you found us here.  The first few weeks seem to be the toughest, with not receiving too much info. from your SR.  Mail will catch up, and hopefully you'll get a phone call in a few weeks.  Just try to remember that "No News is Good News".  I know they tell us that all the time, but it really is the truth.  We will all be with you as you and your SR go through RCU.

Barby...  Pearl Harbor?  Wouldn't that be roughing it for him?  LOL!  Hope he gets his dream job.  After dealing with the extended RTC, he certainly deserves it!

Angie...  be sure to let us know what is happening with your daughter.  I just keep thinking about her.  Hope she's not in too much pain.  I know that you not being able to be there with her is hard for you, but please know we're all praying for her recovery so she can get home to you.

Sharon...  hoping today is the day for when our boys have doctors appointments and are phased up...   I'll let you know as soon as I hear something.  He promised to send a letter, so I'm hoping to get something in the mail this week.  LOL!

Patrick's Mom...  As always, you're the best!!  Does Patrick have any idea when he will finally ship out?  It sure seems to take a long time to get those orders sometimes.

Phillies...   Hopefully those medical issues will be cleared soon.  I'm sure that she's really tired of RTC altogether.  Poor thing!  Probably just wanting to start the next phase of her Navy career.

Hugs to all!!!

-Janet

Welcome Jacque!  So sorry to hear of your daughters stress fractures.  Seems like most of our SR's suffer from that same thing.  Hang in there - she'll be fine.  She just needs some healing time and lots of encouraging letters/cards from home!

Phillies, my son is also still there in THU.  He actually finished boot camp 2 weeks ago today.  He also has his cell phone and laptop, which of course makes a world of difference.  (I hate to post that here, when the majority of you do not have that blessing.  Sorry!)

Continuing to pray healing daily over all your SR's.  What joy there will be here when each one gets through this trial of time in RCU!

Hugs!

Karen

Hi momma's!
I haven't been here for awhile. A little update on this crazy Navy experience. Kate was to graduate on 12-2-2011. Although she is now a Sailor, she is still there. She had to get a waiver that cleared her from her medical issues. Now she waits for the paperwork to go through. Not sure how long that will take. Good news is that while at THU she has a phone and she bought a computer so we can have daily communication. Stay strong momma's.

Hi Jacque - my daughter ended up with 10 stress fractures, this group has helped. It is hard but write encourAging letters. I sent my daughter the poem "don't quit". Unfortunately my daughter has to come home - but there are other post that there kids made it ok - add me as a friend.

Welcome aboard, Jacque.  As has been written previously, this is a small yet incredibly supportive group.  We have been where you are and understand your sadness.  My SR doesn't like to write letters - much to my dismay.  I do write to him on a daily basis and have sent him books he has requested which has helped fill the down time they have while in RCU.  As Jill and Barby suggested, read through the past posts as there is lots of helpful information there.

Navy2011Mom, my SR probably feels the same way - a fixture, watching others come and go. Hopefully, our guys will be able to move to phase 4 this week.

Barbydahlzz, Wow, your guy picked some interesting places for his dream sheet.  San Diego is lovely and fun to visit though crowded.  We were stationed there from 1987 - 1994; Pearl Harbor is also a nice place to visit and Hawaii is beautiful; and Mayport is on the east coast at least.

Welcome Jacque!  Though it's not where any of us thought we'd be, we're glad you are here, it's a big help for all of us.  The ladies here have been so supportive, and we know what you are feeling.  Pretty fresh for me too, my son has only been in ship 04 for a few days, so I'm still in the grieving stage too, for him.  Barb is right, read all the past posts, it helps tremendously, and send me a friend request too.  We'll get through this together.
