It's hard not knowing! That is the purpose for this group. Most likely if you are here your SR has had trouble keeping up or not passed a PFA due to some sort of minor medical issue. Often it stress fractures bringing SR's here. Know this when you don’t get a call that is a very good thing. Calling them is not a good thing and it can negatively impact your SR to have his or her “Mommy“ calling!  They are harder on them in this DIV than any other. They want them up and out. The best thing you can do is sends tons of mail. Send scripture and motivational mail. I know my SR said reading the Bible was considered a sign of weakness here. When you get a tearful call motivate. Stay positive and encourage you SR. This is a small detour to greatness and getting the I'm a Sailor call!  Recruit family and friends…“Navy mom friends are the best“…to send your SR mail as well.  NMH for you all!!

TN Navy mom - when you say that he didn't PIR - did you get to see him before he went to A school - chicago is much closer to me that FL and I'm not sure my 13 yr old daughter (broke both bones in leg) can make a trip to FL - she misses her brother so much - and so do I!

Thank you all - tonight was to be his Battle Stations - he was so close. I hope all your SR's get better soon!

Sharon ... let me know if you want me to send him a letter as well.  :o)

It didn't affect my sailor's rate at all.  He ended up on hold for a few weeks after Battle Stations for a waiver BUT the delay was mostly due to the Tennessee floods last May as orders come out of Middleton Tennessee and the base was under water.  Mine finished Battle Stations on April 30, 2010 and made it to Goose Creek the first week of June.

Does this affect his rating - he's supposed to go to IT in Pensacola  for A school.  Thanks for answering my questions - a week away from PIR - it's just so surprising and awful for him!  I'm trying to regroup and make sure he knows we're supporting him.

Sharon...I would say send letters but nothing else!  Send lots and lots of letters!

Mail requirements are the same in RCU (Ship 4 Div 2341 formerly Ship 6 Div 2341).  They are still in bootcamp and all the bootcamp rules apply EXCEPT that they get to call home with status updates.  Mine called once a week to let us know what was going on.  Mine did not join a new division but finished his final test, Damage Control, final PFA and BS from RCU so he did not PIR.  He was in RCU for 5 weeks due to a knee injury.  There is another group that has more posts/members but it is under the Ship 6 Div 2341.  You might search out that group and join it just to look at old posts to see what to expect.

Write, Write, Write and encourage your SR!!!  GOOD LUCK

Are they less restrictive about mail and/ or care packages?

Hello to all -- I got the bad news phone call last night.  He' sprained his ankle severely - didn't tell anyone for 4 days. Couldn't pass final run and do BS - He was to PIR on July 1.  I'm so glad to find this group - I checked only the division # at first - that can be pretty depressing - I'm glad to know that this is for minor injuries and that my SR will be placed back into a Div.  He's down in the dumps a bit - but" keeping his head held high and his chin up."
