OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

It's hard not knowing! That is the purpose for this group. Most likely if you are here your SR has had trouble keeping up or not passed a PFA due to some sort of minor medical issue. Often it stress fractures bringing SR's here. Know this when you don’t get a call that is a very good thing. Calling them is not a good thing and it can negatively impact your SR to have his or her “Mommy“ calling! They are harder on them in this DIV than any other. They want them up and out. The best thing you can do is sends tons of mail. Send scripture and motivational mail. I know my SR said reading the Bible was considered a sign of weakness here. When you get a tearful call motivate. Stay positive and encourage you SR. This is a small detour to greatness and getting the I'm a Sailor call! Recruit family and friends…“Navy mom friends are the best“…to send your SR mail as well. NMH for you all!!

This week has been hard. Her letter sounds like she is getting down. She got a stomach virus and was in SIQ. I just want us to move forward. How is your son now?

Comment by Annychiquita on March 8, 2014 at 11:46pm: Hi my friends!!! just received my son call today, and I felt so happy...he is in ship 4 recovering from stress fractures (legs), and told me he will be there for a while..God knows everything; he won't graduate the 21, but I prefer that he can heal first and have his PIR when God decides...blessings to all the kids having their PIR the 21...hugsssss

Comment by Buttercup on February 28, 2014 at 10:39pm: Hello everyone, I just got a call last night that my SR is now on medical hold and wont be graduation on 3-21. We had a 5 minute call and found out that she has been on crutches for the past 2 weeks. She was hoping to get back into her division and keep her PIR date. I guess now its a waiting game. Already mailed her first letter to the new division.

Comment by navygirl10 on February 28, 2014 at 4:49pm: @annychiquita It all depends on what phase he is. Phase 1 and 2 both take 2 wks at least each. They are the healing phases so it depends on how fast they heal but he should be out in the 4 wks it takes for shin splints and then phase 3 is one wk and that's walking and physical therapy and phase 4 is one wk with running everyday. After he finishes the phases he will be able to take his med PFA and once he passes that he will take his regular PFA and then he either goes back to a division or battle stations from there.

I am a very worry mom..my boy is in his 4 week of training and had stress fracture(legs)...he is in RCU right now since last Tuesday feb. 25, and will not be graduating march 21...my concern is: do u guys know how many days can he be on RCU? I am very sad, cause he won't be with his team not more ;(
