RCU SHIP 04 DIV 741

Seamen Recruits are here getting medical treatment for minor injuries. FIT DIV is also in this area.

Location: RTC Chicago, IL
Members: 203
Latest Activity: Jul 20, 2023

It's hard not knowing! That is the purpose for this group. Most likely if you are here your SR has had trouble keeping up or not passed a PFA due to some sort of minor medical issue. Often it stress fractures bringing SR's here. Know this when you don’t get a call that is a very good thing. Calling them is not a good thing and it can negatively impact your SR to have his or her “Mommy“ calling!  They are harder on them in this DIV than any other. They want them up and out. The best thing you can do is sends tons of mail. Send scripture and motivational mail. I know my SR said reading the Bible was considered a sign of weakness here. When you get a tearful call motivate. Stay positive and encourage you SR. This is a small detour to greatness and getting the I'm a Sailor call!  Recruit family and friends…“Navy mom friends are the best“…to send your SR mail as well.  NMH for you all!!

Missing my daughter so much. I got a letter from her.  She is just so depressed I am worried about her.   She says that everyone around her is depressed and crying.  She misses her son so much.  I have this vision in my head that she is in some psych ward with glaring lights shining down on her bound to a bed with no way to get better.  Please someone tell me this isn't so.

@NavyMom2, my daughter had a stress fracture of the Tibia! I havent gotten a call from her since the 30 second call saying she was hurt...she was so disappointed on that call, but since then I have received a dozen letters and she sounds really happy and positive! She mentioned meeting a Navy Seal and a Special Opps, she said it was more exciting than meeting a celebrity!

Just wanted to Share some good news, recd a letter from my SR on Monday, said she was moved to phase 3! Yippee!! Said her Dr said she was the most happy positive patient he has....so moms, keep your SR's positive, it really makes a difference in healing time! they originally estimated her healing time at 6 weeks, but is now down to 4 weeks! Still not sure of she will have a PIR, but either way cant wait to see her once she is done!

My daughter has been in there for awhile now too, what is your daughters name?

Comment by JELLSMOM on September 19, 2013 at 5:42pm

Daisy13,

oh wow, a very early injury! It hard to just go to bootcamp, my daughter graduated high school in may and left July24th! its an adjustment in itself to be away from home, an a rigorouse schedule and then to have an injury! If you private message me her name I will send her a card! I will also tell my daughter too look out for her!

jellsmom  It's my niece, but she has been there at least this week, possibly last week.  She just went into BC on 9/4.

Hi Daisy13, I print off pictures of encouragement quoates from google, I print songs, and poems...this is just a stepping stone in their long journey! they will have many more some good and some not so good! But if they really want this, they will focus on their new goal of healing and then completing their training.  I dont know how long your daughter has been in RCU but my daughter has been there just about 4 weeks and it appears it has gotten better her and she sounds positive in her letters. My daughter would have had her PIR tomorrow 9/20... she was so close...I miss her terribly but I am so proud of her and I pray daily for all of our children in RCU!
