Seamen Recruits are here getting medical treatment for minor injuries. FIT DIV is also in this area.

It's hard not knowing! That is the purpose for this group. Most likely if you are here your SR has had trouble keeping up or not passed a PFA due to some sort of minor medical issue. Often it stress fractures bringing SR's here. Know this when you don’t get a call that is a very good thing. Calling them is not a good thing and it can negatively impact your SR to have his or her “Mommy“ calling!  They are harder on them in this DIV than any other. They want them up and out. The best thing you can do is sends tons of mail. Send scripture and motivational mail. I know my SR said reading the Bible was considered a sign of weakness here. When you get a tearful call motivate. Stay positive and encourage you SR. This is a small detour to greatness and getting the I'm a Sailor call!  Recruit family and friends…“Navy mom friends are the best“…to send your SR mail as well.  NMH for you all!!

Thank you Carol8765! I wasnt sure if I was allowed to or not...I will get some out to her today! Is your daughter still in RCU?

@girlnboots-ship14div376, I know exactly how you feel.  My daughter also cried and cried when she called to tell me. She is going on 3 weeks there, she says its boring, she could only ride the excercise bike, she volunteered for ship watch, said she'd rather clean all day then do nothing! I write her everyday, send her letters, cards and pictures of encouragement. Its still pretty new to me, and I have a dozen questions all the time. I will also add your daughter to my prayers each day that she has a speedy recovery!

We have sent shampoo, bar soap and shower gel to our daughter in RCU several times now

My daughter wrote and said she was moved up to phase 2 IN rcu, she sounded positive that she moved up in just a week.  she was disappointed because she lost her call one week because she was on ship watch, then the 2nd week she lost the clal due to some boys that got in trouble and they took the phone call away from the entire division.  Now she lost going to the NEX because the boys bought items they werent supposed to have. She needs shower gel, does anyone know if I can send her some shower gel?

Welcome everyone. I am so sorry to hear of your SRs injuries. I know this is a difficult time for you and your SR. Our son was here for nearly 7 months with a complete fracture of the fibula. I will never forget that 30 sec phone call telling us that he was there. I tore my heart out. He was only a week away from graduation. He is well now and in Bahrain. He was able to come home for a few weeks. Things have changed some since he was there, but this is a great group to be a part of and lots of support and encouragement. I will tell you to give as much support as you can to our SR. I wrote everyday. We only received calls every 2 weeks or so and a letter every Thursday. All our news was a week off. It was the most difficult few months I have ever spent.  You feel so helpless. But be assured, they are getting good medical care. They want your SR to heal. There is a facebook page set up for this group as well and there are several moms there. It is a closed group and you have to ask to join, but you might want to. Look back at previous posts and you will find it. I keep in touch every so often. It is hard to let go even though my son is not there anymore. You develop a connection for these young men and women. Good luck and we will be keeping you in our prayers.

I am not sure if any moms here have a son currently in RCU, but my daughter has been there a week and half and wrote me a letter saying she meet a boy there, he has helped her a lot, he's been there for 6 months! She said he has been positive and motivating! So if anyones son is in RCU~ i just want to say thank you! It makes so much of a difference when you have positive support around you!!!

SHAMAY...

I'm sorry to hear about your sons injury.  He will receive excellent care in RCU.  My granddaughter has been there since June 13 with 3 stress fractures.

There is very little activity on this site, but there are a bunch of us on the closed Facebook group site.  A really super bunch of wives, girlfriends, moms and dads, and grammas (me)...come join us.  We all have SRs in either RCU or FIT, and we celebrate their accomplishments, encourage those who are having hard times, and everything in between.  This is a closed group, so you will have to request to become a member.  The admins closely monitor who is admitted to our group, so it may take until tomorrow if you request to join this evening.  Hope to see you over there.  Here's the address:
