RCU SHIP 04 DIV 741

Seamen Recruits are here getting medical treatment for minor injuries. FIT DIV is also in this area.

It's hard not knowing! That is the purpose for this group. Most likely if you are here your SR has had trouble keeping up or not passed a PFA due to some sort of minor medical issue. Often it stress fractures bringing SR's here. Know this when you don’t get a call that is a very good thing. Calling them is not a good thing and it can negatively impact your SR to have his or her “Mommy“ calling!  They are harder on them in this DIV than any other. They want them up and out. The best thing you can do is sends tons of mail. Send scripture and motivational mail. I know my SR said reading the Bible was considered a sign of weakness here. When you get a tearful call motivate. Stay positive and encourage you SR. This is a small detour to greatness and getting the I'm a Sailor call!  Recruit family and friends…“Navy mom friends are the best“…to send your SR mail as well.  NMH for you all!!

Awesome news since my son joined the Navy May 30th 2012:

Good news!! My son graduated from boot camp October 2012. Since then he has graduated from A school for Navy Corpsman / Medic training and C school for combat training. Monday he reported in at the Greater Lakes Navy base to begin working in the RCU where he was treated for stress fractures while in boot camp. He is loving being one of the staff members now, and already saw one of the doctors who treated him last year. Just know if you have a recruit in RCU, my son actually might be able to meet them. It was difficult for him, yet he perserved and now he is so loving life. It's been a year of sharing his living quarters to now having his own bedroom without having a curfew. Sometimes, it's those little things we take for granted that are so important later on. We thank God for the blessings he has bestowed upon us. Sending prayers for all while thinking about Memorial Day and God Bless our troops and America! :-)

Liz'smom - This group goes from active to not so active and then back active again...it just depends. Try this group as well on FB:

FIT/RCU Division  Ship 4 - Div 2347-2381-2444 and 2341 - Ship 5

Hang in there with your daughter. Keep sending cards and letters as much as you possibly can and stay positive when on the phone. My son said that was a huge help to him.

Best wishes

Not a very active group.  Still no word from my daughter since the 2 min call last week.  I am worried- I hope she doesn't feel like she wants to give up and come home...

Batch 2161, you may been directed to Navyformoms.com and it has a lot of different Groups on it including the PIR date group for your son's graduation. If he is not injured, you will not need this group. Here's hoping you will not, it extends the time your SR is at Boot Camp and that is not fun!  There is also an awesome site called NavyDads.com and also NavyDep.com that has a day by day schedule of what your SR is doing. These support groups are great to help you get through the time your SR is away. Congratulations on raising a son who wants to be a Sailor!

Hi All- I'm new here- just got the call last night she has stress fractures obtained while in the Fit group.  She needs to pass PFA and BS21- and she can graduate...How long will it take for this to heal?

Comment by gracie21 on May 15, 2013 at 1:40pm

Rec'd a message to join this group but this appears to be for recruits that have been delayed due to medical issues.  My son only arrived last night.  Not sure why I was given this group to join?  Any ideas?

Christina, I'm sory to hear you daughter is being shipped home.  I'm very new to this group, my daughter has two stress fractures in her legs, and was at 4-1, going to PIR in three weeks.  I'm more of a wreck when now than I was when I left the first time.  I got her first letter since joining ship 4 yesterday.  It was the saddest letter I've ever read.

Comment by Janai'sMom on April 24, 2013 at 10:42am

Just got a call, my daughter is 4 weeks in, shin splints turned to stress fractures.  We only had a two minute call, I got her new address.  She said she would be in physical therapy, and rejoin another division to finish bootcamp where she left off (4-1), and will not be graduating in three weeks, but some time in the future.  I'll continue to write every day, encouraging, uplifting, of course.   But could someone clue me in as to what else goes on in RCU?  I'm nervous, and she is hurt and heartbroken.  Any advice / ideas would be appreciated.  I'm not sure where to look.
