RCU SHIP 04 DIV 741

Seamen Recruits are here getting medical treatment for minor injuries. FIT DIV is also in this area.

Location: RTC Chicago, IL
Members: 203
Latest Activity: Jul 20, 2023

It's hard not knowing! That is the purpose for this group. Most likely if you are here your SR has had trouble keeping up or not passed a PFA due to some sort of minor medical issue. Often it stress fractures bringing SR's here. Know this when you don’t get a call that is a very good thing. Calling them is not a good thing and it can negatively impact your SR to have his or her “Mommy“ calling!  They are harder on them in this DIV than any other. They want them up and out. The best thing you can do is sends tons of mail. Send scripture and motivational mail. I know my SR said reading the Bible was considered a sign of weakness here. When you get a tearful call motivate. Stay positive and encourage you SR. This is a small detour to greatness and getting the I'm a Sailor call!  Recruit family and friends…“Navy mom friends are the best“…to send your SR mail as well.  NMH for you all!!

disneyfan...I am so sorry to hear about the Sep. We will definitely keep you in our prayers.

DR'smom...and disneyfan... Thank you. You know God does work in mysterious ways. I keep telling my son that is in Bahrain that He will never put more on him than he is able to bear. He has a reason for everything, I know that He has great things planned for your son and daughter. Will keep you all in our prayers. Please keep in touch. I want to know how they are doing when they get home.

Hugs and Prayers, Susan

Yes disneyfan, I to have heard 10 to 20 days, as my daughter is in the same situation as your son. I'm so sorry. My daughter said they rarely get to see the sun, and they don't eat very good either, so the vitamin D deficience is something I will correct when she gets home as well. I feel for you, yes this is one heck of a ride for our SR's and us too! You both are in my prayers. A big shout our for paces, thanks again!

So Ladies, after going on 5 weeks in ship 4, my son was put in Seps last Friday, which ironically was the same day he PIR would have been. He called me Tuesday to say it would take 10 to 20 business days to get home. Seems after 3 stress fractures and a severe vitamin D deficiency they decided to send him home. His one knee wont heal well enough for him to continue and they cant seem to get his Vit D up at an acceptable level. Its been a rough ride the last 2 months, but Im happy he is coming home now and so is he. Does the 10 to 20 business days sound accurate? sounds like their shipping him UPS..lol ..Anyway, thanks for all the support during these last months, I really appreciated it

DR'smom...My heart aches with you. You are ready to hold her in your arms and make it all better. It is such a helpless feeling. We are praying for you and this may be God's way of finding a problem that no one knew existed. There is always a blessing in every disappointment, although we may never really know we received it. Prayers for you both. Hugs and Prayers, Susan

Calebzmom...I can totally relate to your frustrations. Our son was in RCU for almost 3 months and then another 4 months of therapy. It was a very long 8 months total because he was only 1 week away from graduating when he broke his leg. He is now a Master of Arms. Not what he wants to do, but at least he is healed and better. We did not get to see our son for 4 months and the agony of waiting on those phone calls was unbelievable. The letters were great but everything was over a week old by the time we got the letter so we were always a week behind. It does get better. The light at the end of the tunnel does appear. Prayers and Hugs.

Praying for continued healing and run times to improve. Susan

I was off this site for a while but Caleb is now in week 19 and I have not seen him since 10-22-12.  This is because of his run--He completed bc except for that and BS and did a running clinic thru end -mid Feb.  He has cut 1 minute off his time to now 13:29 but still is really hanging in there and wants to pass really bad. He sometimes gets down cause he says his legs get tired and sore but he runs better on "fresh legs".  I cannot wait for him to get to SC for A school-----8 weeks turned into 19 weeks and NO time at home and i'm lucky if he calls once a month because phone calls get taken away for someone elses wrongdoing and thats very frustrating to him and me. I need my call!!! I want o hear happiness and his progression.  Please pray for him to have strength in his legs and knees to pass this run--he doesn't have a lot more chances.

Thanks,   Jeanette    aka Calebzmom

Thank you everyone.

DR's Mom - I'm thinking of you all. I will keep your daughter in my prayers to help her through this time. Best wishes to you all.

Thank you paces, your so right. It should be somewhere around 10 to 20 days, but legal is backed up, so ya never know for sure. I was pretty angry at first that the doc didn't xray her knees, that he made his diagnosis (based his experience) and decided to end her career by touch. The doc must be one hell of a doc, if he can tell that her condition has been with her from birth without an xray! With that being said, I'm so glad she's coming home so she can get the care she needs. Thanks so much for being there for us!

DR'sMom... I am sorry to hear she is coming home, but I am a firm believer in "things always work out the way they are meant to be". I am praying that she heals well. Please continue to let us know how she is doing.

How long before she is actually home? Hugs and Prayers, Susan
