Information

RCU SHIP 04 DIV 741

Seamen Recruits are here getting medical treatment for minor injuries. FIT DIV is also in this area.

Location: RTC Chicago, IL

It's hard not knowing! That is the purpose for this group. Most likely if you are here your SR has had trouble keeping up or not passed a PFA due to some sort of minor medical issue. Often it stress fractures bringing SR's here. Know this when you don’t get a call that is a very good thing. Calling them is not a good thing and it can negatively impact your SR to have his or her “Mommy“ calling!  They are harder on them in this DIV than any other. They want them up and out. The best thing you can do is sends tons of mail. Send scripture and motivational mail. I know my SR said reading the Bible was considered a sign of weakness here. When you get a tearful call motivate. Stay positive and encourage you SR. This is a small detour to greatness and getting the I'm a Sailor call!  Recruit family and friends…“Navy mom friends are the best“…to send your SR mail as well.  NMH for you all!!

I have a silly question...do our SRs need stamps to mail letters? Should I bother sending them?  The first couple of letters that I got from my SR, they didn't have postage on them.  I sent a letter and included stamps, he wrote back using the stamps. I imagine that his RDC is letting him write but he is getting in trouble for not having postage. I know this is silly!

@Grace there is no way of finding out. Every sailor is different especially in this group. The sooner he heals the sooner he can graduate! Good luck

@ CTMom congrats! That's great news! Good thing his A school is in Great Lakes! At least he doesn't have to travel any further. Hope he is completely healed! Happy PIR!

Great News.. Best of luck to him!

I heard from my son. He is Fit for Duty, but not Fit for Travel. He is supposed to leave RCU and join in with the division he has been AIT with on Monday. He has a PIR date, but I still don't know if they'll let him actually be a part of the ceremony.  He seems to think he will be able to.  Also, because he isn't Fit for Travel, he will most likely have to go into holding after he graduates until he has another xray showing the fracture is completely healed. He really wants to get to A school (also in GL), so hopefully he will be able to. We have arranged to fly out  on his PIR date, I hope we'll get to see him. Everything is still so up in the air. But, I'm happy with the news we have received!! :)

Hi, I'm brand new to this I'm not a mom but I am the girlfriend of a recruit who is on ship 4 div 2341. The last time he talked to me he said he should hopefully graduate very soon because he has been out of the hospital since the end of January. I was just wondering if there was a way to find out when they graduate or if you just have to wait it out haha which is fine I'm just confused and need answers. Thanks :)

That's what I'm hoping Paces....I'm also hoping for a call tomorrow after his doctor appointment to say he is going into a division...we'll see what happens.

JaneWilliams, I'm happy you got two letter! Very good! Our SR hasn't been sending any to anyone here and he told me the last time I spoke to him that he was so sorry but that they were keeping him busier now. :)  He told me he will never complain about being bored again! Poor kid! HA HA!!

CTMom...As they progress to Phase 4, they are working out more and training. He may just be too busy to write. I know our letters and phone calls slowed way down once he went into this phase. In fact, we did not even know he was going to Battle Stations until the day after he completed it. He was too exhausted to call us that day. Praying for letters and calls. Hugs and Prayers
