RCU SHIP 04 DIV 741

Seamen Recruits are here getting medical treatment for minor injuries. FIT DIV is also in this area.

Location: RTC Chicago, IL
Members: 203
Latest Activity: Jul 20, 2023

It's hard not knowing! That is the purpose for this group. Most likely if you are here your SR has had trouble keeping up or not passed a PFA due to some sort of minor medical issue. Often it stress fractures bringing SR's here. Know this when you don’t get a call that is a very good thing. Calling them is not a good thing and it can negatively impact your SR to have his or her “Mommy“ calling!  They are harder on them in this DIV than any other. They want them up and out. The best thing you can do is sends tons of mail. Send scripture and motivational mail. I know my SR said reading the Bible was considered a sign of weakness here. When you get a tearful call motivate. Stay positive and encourage you SR. This is a small detour to greatness and getting the I'm a Sailor call!  Recruit family and friends…“Navy mom friends are the best“…to send your SR mail as well.  NMH for you all!!

Mine is one of them with the pox talks about going directly to A school. He has pretty much been in this division his whole boot camp time!

So one thing I forgot to mention when my sailor called.  His unit is in quarantine for the next 19 days due to an out break of chicken pox!

Oh the irony!

Thank you Navyknitt22 for clarification. I agree we do have wonderful sailors who we are so proud of and love so very much. Please remember to encourage your friends and family to send letters and cards to your recruit. It means so much to them and they need the encouragement. Have a wonderful day everyone!!

LindenEmry - CONGRATULATIONS to both you and your new sailor!  Wonderful news to see as I logged on here this morning.  I see your son is headed to Groton for Submarine School.  My son is there too, however he is home for a week right now on leave - first time since leaving for boot camp 9 long months ago.  Needless to probably say, I'm ecstatic!  Please join the group for Groton Moms.  There are a lot of really knowledgeable women there who are GREAT!  Look forward to "seeing" you there!

I don't understand peggysuecory. I thought they had to graduate before they went on to A school? I'm so confused! I feel like I don't know anything about the process!

Sending an update on my son who was orginally going to graduate on July 27th. He had stress fractures on both legs and is healing. The last time I spoke to him, he was so worried about another injury he thought he would choose to go from RCU directly to A school. His letter I received from him on Thursday said he changed his mind and plans to go to a new division soon and then graduate. Either way, I can not wait to see him again and give him great hugs and hold him close as it has been it seems so long since I have last seen him on May 30th when he left for boot camp. Stay strong moms! We are all in it together and support each other. God Bless each and every one. :-)

Good morning
A quick introduction: my daughter was in boot camp for @ 9 months. Heel stress fractures, anemia, and then waiting for a waiver to say she was fine. She missed her Graduation. BUT... She is now completed her A School and is with a division in Washington State. She just arrived and will deploy at the end of this month. My baby is a grown woman (age19) and the struggles and frustration at Boot Camp has led to strong friendships! Stay strong Momma's! Also- if your recruit loves music, I would copy her favorite song lyrics and send to her. She loved that.

Blythe -   My son entered RCU four days before his final PFA with a knee injury.  His scheduled PIR was 6.1.12.  Needless to say,  he didn't make it.   It's been a tough few months for him and for us. Him being injured, the prolonged therapy and him having frustration/doubts about his fitness for duty. We were struggling with not knowing enough and for trying to let go of our son so he could become his own man.

The Navy will take care of your son and help him get better.  You need to be there to encourage and emotionally support him.  Trust me, it will be difficult for him and your family.  However, the end result will be well worth it.   This group will support you and you support your son.  Like him,  you are not alone.  We'll keep you in our prayers... because God always listens to knee mail!

Take Care.. Lyn
