It's hard not knowing! That is the purpose for this group. Most likely if you are here your SR has had trouble keeping up or not passed a PFA due to some sort of minor medical issue. Often it stress fractures bringing SR's here. Know this when you don’t get a call that is a very good thing. Calling them is not a good thing and it can negatively impact your SR to have his or her “Mommy“ calling! They are harder on them in this DIV than any other. They want them up and out. The best thing you can do is sends tons of mail. Send scripture and motivational mail. I know my SR said reading the Bible was considered a sign of weakness here. When you get a tearful call motivate. Stay positive and encourage you SR. This is a small detour to greatness and getting the I'm a Sailor call! Recruit family and friends…“Navy mom friends are the best“…to send your SR mail as well. NMH for you all!!

Wow Susan, that's a long time! I will definitely keep both you and your son in my prayers. I have a friend that I work with, whose son is in the Navy and just left last weekend for 4 years in Japan! I can't quite imagine my son ever being that far away, but with the Navy, one never knows! At least I know wherever he goes, God will go with him. THAT is the one thing I'm grateful I am certain of!!!
My son is now in Submarine School in Connecticut (a six hour drive for us). He's completed the first two courses, and is onto his third starting next week. Once that course is completed (in about a month or so), he'll begin his A School. We've been fortunate to visit him twice already in Connecticut, although he has yet to have leave. Hopefully sometime soon...
Your son's job sounds exciting! I hope he will enjoy it and see lots of the world he might never see if not for being in the Navy!
Patrick'sMom...He will be with the navy security force. Not sure if I can say where, but it will be overseas. He will be gone for 3 years when he leaves. He might get to come home once during that time for about a month. So we are going to treasure each moment we have with him.
How is your's doing?
Thank you and I will be keeping in touch. Hugs and Prayers. Susan
Hi Susan,
How wonderful to have your boy home! YOU also must be on cloud 9 right now. Thanks for coming back to share your/his story. There are definitely some ladies here that will be encouraged and benefit from hearing it. Very happy that your son has found that light at the end of the tunnel and has completed his A School. What will he be doing in the Navy? Enjoy your time with him home. I hope it will be extremely blessed!
Ladies...Haven't been here in a while. Congratulations Jill. I know you are on cloud nine right now. Ours finally finished A school for Master of Arms. He got home last night. It has been 7 months since we saw him last. It was such a relief to see him, but most of all to give him a hug and hold him for a few minutes. ProudMom... so sorry to hear about the separation, but I know you will be glad to have her home.
Just wanted to share about our son because he was here for a very long time. He finished boot camp at the end of December, but re-injured his leg while still on medical hold and wasn't declared fit for duty until the end of April. Was able to go to A school the second week of May and graduated yesterday.
There is light at the end of the tunnel. I wondered if I would ever be able to see it, but with the encouragement, support and prayers from this group, we did make it and he is finally on his way. Keeping you all in our prayers.
Hugs and Prayers, Susan
Hopefully Jill is having a wonderful time with her son. It's been months for her since she's seen him, so I'm sure she's having a great time.
For all the other RCU moms, hoping for letters and calls for all this weekend. Not sure what the holiday time schedule will be next week for the kids, but hopefully calls will come to each mom. I know it's tough waiting for news, but healing sure does take some time and patience from each of us -- and the Navy sure does try our patience when it comes to our kids. Keep the faith!! Wishing you the best!!

Jill, sorry this is so belated. I read your post about your son finally becoming a Sailor when I was at work on Wednesday. I actually burst into tears and my co-worker who sits right next to me, wondered what in heaven's name happened. It honestly took me several seconds to choke down the tears so I could TALK and tell her! (I couldn't even think of posting them - I couldn't get my thoughts together.) I can't tell you how emotional I was - there aren't words to say how HAPPY I am for you and your precious son/SAILOR!!! It's Friday today, and you've been to PIR by now! I am sooooooooooooooo excited for you to finally see him, touch and hug him, not to mention ATTEND PIR!!! Thank you Lord for the answer to many prayers prayed for this young man. Can't WAIT to hear your account of your reunion and PIR! Praying for you all BIG TIME sister! I hope it's all you dreamed it to be and MORE!
With love and hugs all around!!!
Karen
1ProudMom-my insurance (Kaiser) told me that my son is covered until he's 26 years regardless of having been covered by another employer's coverage. The injury, even originating at bootcamp, is considered "preexisting" because he was always on our plan. But you should call your insurance to make sure. Good luck! I understand your anxiety about being able to help your child heal and the cost that may be incurred. Sometimes it's overwhelming to think about because we're also worried about the mental injuries that an experience like this might leave on our sons/daughters. Just love her and let her know that she's loved by all of us here too! I hope she's fit for travel soon!
I need some help, ladies and hope someone here can give me some guidance. As you know, my daughter is being discharged due to injuries sustained while in boot camp. Upon coming home and no longer being covered under the Navy's health insurance, will/should my health insurance cover treatment for these injuries?
I'd appreciate hearing from someone who has been through this. I'm hoping that upon her coming home and getting other medical opinions, we won't be incurring large medical bills due to our insurance not covering it. Thanks to anyone willing to respond!!
Hello all - just wanted to give a final update on my daughter. She had an MRI last week that showed additional foot fractures and indicated that there has been no progress in the healing of the original fractures (after 8 weeks). She called yesterday to let us know she had been moved to the separation unit. She'll be coming home in 10-20 days. Thanks for all the information, support and prayers. I will continue praying for healing, progress and success for each of your sailors.
