It's hard not knowing! That is the purpose for this group. Most likely if you are here your SR has had trouble keeping up or not passed a PFA due to some sort of minor medical issue. Often it stress fractures bringing SR's here. Know this when you don’t get a call that is a very good thing. Calling them is not a good thing and it can negatively impact your SR to have his or her “Mommy“ calling! They are harder on them in this DIV than any other. They want them up and out. The best thing you can do is sends tons of mail. Send scripture and motivational mail. I know my SR said reading the Bible was considered a sign of weakness here. When you get a tearful call motivate. Stay positive and encourage you SR. This is a small detour to greatness and getting the I'm a Sailor call! Recruit family and friends…“Navy mom friends are the best“…to send your SR mail as well. NMH for you all!!

Jill... Congratulations on getting that call -- I know it's been a long time coming, but FINALLY he made it!!! Be sure to take LOTS of pictures at PIR -- I know that Karen and I are really hoping to find out what PIR is like since our boys skipped it entirely. Give your boy a HUGE hug from the rest of us moms here -- you know he's like one of the family (he just doesn't know it) -- LOL!! Of course, he'll think we've all gone crazy, but this really is happy news for all of us. Enjoy the time you get with him -- you've earned it!!
HUGE HUGS FOR YOU!!!! Congratulations again!!
-Janet
Congratulations Jill & Sailor-son!! I wouldn't have missed the chance to say this for the whole world!! I'll be "lurking" for the follow-up and pics, also!
Congratulations Jill! My prayers are with your daughter Pam. Thank you all for the encouragement.
Ladies, I just received a call I thought would never come: I have a SAILOR! We will see him on Friday, then Saturday morning at the airport because he is unexpectedly being shipped very quickly to Pensacola.
I debated whether or not to post, I know that some of you have paths that have taken a different direction, but I also know that there are some still here that need some news of some positive outcomes too. I remember hanging onto those from you other moms when I first got here.
As always, no matter WHAT your situation is, you are all in my prayers.
Sharon, Karen, Janet, BoomMom, and the rest of you, never would have made it through this without you.
Gale - Welcome to the group! I'm so sorry that your son was injured; elbow injuries just make me shiver. Have faith... he will heal and you will persevere. I know it's hard to sit by and wait for news, knowing your child is hurt and you can't help. However, this is a wonderful group to share your questions, frustrations and triumphs. Don't be a stranger and don't hesitate to ask questions. The ladies here are a fount of wisdom, strength and support.
Pam - our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family as your daughter transitions back to civilian life. I agree with Janet - God's plan is full of unexpected surprises and this could be the beginning of something amazing for her. Please stay in touch.
Just as an update, my son is still in phase 2 with his knee. Hopefully he can move to phase 3 when he sees the doctor this week. If that happens, and therapy progresses on the timetable he told us, there will be a very good chance that he'll be able to graduate on his birthday. Here's hoping and praying!
Hugs to all!
pax.
Pam... I guess the countdown at your house has really started now. Can't wait to hear about the reunion. Be sure to let us know how it goes. I applaud your response to your daughter!! You are so right! It's not failure if you've tried -- and injury is not something she could possibly have controlled. God's plan in one's life is not always the one we expect. Separation from the Navy is not the end, but possibly just the beginning of something truly wonderful for your daughter.
Still keeping you and your daughter in my thoughts and prayers!
-Janet
Gale... A 2 week set-back would be a drop in the bucket compared to some of the time the moms here have to deal with. My son had over 12 weeks in RCU for his injuries, so I really am praying that your son's recovery is a quick one. Just know that we're all here for you and hoping for the very best for your SR.
Thank you for the warm welcome ladies..I needed that! He didn't mention how long the fracture would take to heal just said pushed his Boot Camp to 2 weeks more and he sees a doctor on July 5 to see if it's healing.
Good Morning Gale. Im sorry to here about your son. This Division is more than likely the where your SR is... I understand just how you feel. My Daughter had been in Basic for 3 weeks when i got the call that she was moving Ship 4, Div 2341.. she has had issues with left leg.. Fracture, Tendons.etc... The lady's in this group are simply amazing and will help you with information and support for you and you SR.. My daughter told me the nicest thing about Div 2341 is they dont get yelled at near as much. LOL however it is VERY boring. My daughter was able to call every sunday however that does not always happen.
My daughter had a doctor appt every week. I believe it was either Wed or thurs. They also have counslors that your SR can sign up to go see. They seem to help my daughter as she was very depressed after she got to division 2341.
I dont know near as much as these other wonderful women in here. They are sure to have the answers to your many questions, and are so very supportive. I know you can send your SR books to help pass the time, however there is a very limited list as to what you may send... Not very entertaining im afraid. lol.. Your SR can get the list and let you know.
My daughter is coming home today... She just called. She is in departure and will be leaving for the airport in an hour. I am so happy to see her and she is happy to be on her way home, however she has mixed feelings. She still feels as if she has failed. Let her family down. We just keep telling her you can only fail if you do not try and that we are proud of her. She is also torn because she has made some special friends and have formed a tight bond. She doesnt want to leave them behind. Time and God will heal all wounds..
I will add you and your SR to my list and pray for his quick recovery, Keep your chin up Gale. Not a doubt in my mind that your SR is a strong young man. He joined the NAVY after all... God Bless you and yours Gale......... Pam
Hi Gale, and welcome. Did they happen to give your son any idea about how long the fractured elbow takes to heal? Just curious. I know that with stress fractures (with the legs, etc.) they tell the kids 6 weeks, so I'm wondering how long an elbow would take to heal. Hopefully your son will be able to keep up the running portion of the PT, and hopefully he won't be in too much pain with the elbow, but OUCH!!! So glad that you found this group. Like Jill said, they are a fantastic bunch of ladies that will be here for you anytime. We've been through the set-back(s) and know exactly how hard this is for us moms.
Hugs!!
-Janet
