It's hard not knowing! That is the purpose for this group. Most likely if you are here your SR has had trouble keeping up or not passed a PFA due to some sort of minor medical issue. Often it stress fractures bringing SR's here. Know this when you don’t get a call that is a very good thing. Calling them is not a good thing and it can negatively impact your SR to have his or her “Mommy“ calling!  They are harder on them in this DIV than any other. They want them up and out. The best thing you can do is sends tons of mail. Send scripture and motivational mail. I know my SR said reading the Bible was considered a sign of weakness here. When you get a tearful call motivate. Stay positive and encourage you SR. This is a small detour to greatness and getting the I'm a Sailor call!  Recruit family and friends…“Navy mom friends are the best“…to send your SR mail as well.  NMH for you all!!

Hi Jill my fiance came out of RCU 6/6 and put into div 203 also and he is graduating the same day. He called me last Thursday they got a 30 minute phone call. He said their new weeks starts on Wednesday so they started their new week today so all that is left is battle stations and if all is well we should be looking forward to a call from them soon! :)... I get my letters on Thursdays so if anything about their division is mentioned I will keep you informed! :)... It feels good to know that it is almost over!

Jill, contact Recruit Training Command, Public Affairs Office by phone (847-688-2405) or email.  When my son graduated from BC on May 18th (after being in RCU for 6 weeks +)...for, what else, stress fractures.  :o)  I sent RTC an e-mail and they asked for the old password and immediately sent me the password for the new date.  I actually emailed them rather than called.

I don't normally write on N4M...I'm a "reader"...or a "creeper" as my daughter would say.  I like to think that I'm not alone and that there are lots of us that have rec'd a great deal of comfort following all of you wonderful moms.  Thank you!

Hugs & Congratulations on your good news!

Ladies, I finally have some news: My son is out of RCU.  He is with Ship 12, Division 203, scheduled to graduate on 6-29-12, if nothing breaks between now and then.  I just got his letter today, so he hasn't gotten my last 5-6 letters, I didn't know he was moved.  I thought we got a short phone call if their status changed, but apparently not always.  (NOT complaining a bit, mind you).
My husband and I plan to go to graduation, (praying all the while that we don't get a phone call that says otherwise), but I have no idea how to go about getting a parking pass at this stage of the game.  Going to try and find a hotel that still has something available with shuttle service.....
Love to you all, I'll keep you posted, not leaving this group......

Hi all and Happy Monday!

Pam, I'm sorry to hear of your daughter's separation but I know you will be happy to have her back under your wings so you can care for her in the way that only a Momma can.  I'll keep you both in my prayers.

Are there any other moms with daughters in the RCU here?  I didn't get a call yesterday (first time other than when she ran out of minutes on her phone card) and I'm a little concerned.  Due to her foot still not healing properly (it will be 7 weeks this week), my SR had a bone scan last Monday and was supposed to get the results last Thursday.  I didn't receive a call re: med sep so I know nothing has changed with her status but she has been so very frustrated with all the drama and so anxious just to either move on or move out.

Hope everyone is hanging in there and your SRs are doing well.

Hi Pam,
So sorry to hear the news about your daughter being separated, but trust that this truly is the right thing for her at this time with her multiple injuries.  I think it will be a very good thing for her to be home with you.  Hopefully she can share her feelings about the struggles she's been facing other than physical, so that she can make a wise decision as to whether the Navy is where she believes her future lies, or perhaps the Lord has another wonderful plan for her life.  Whatever the outcome, I wish you both the very best.  I will continue to lift her in my prayers along with the other SR's (those still in RCU, those who have gone on, or gone home).  May the Lord guide their each and every path.

Hello everyone. I have been working alot of shift so unable to get on here and chat or read much for that matter. Trying to keep busy and my mind on other things so i dont worry so much. Thankful that my job allows that. I agree 100% on how the men look at EVERYTHING different then us moms do. Sometimes it's a blessing sometimes it just plain makes me angry! lol. Anyway my Sailor Girl will be coming home. I got the call yesterday morning. In 10 to 14 days is all i know at this point in time. Still unsure about the let. I'm hearing Fractures, Tendons. Ankel problems. The list seems to be un-ending and changing all the time. As i said when i first wrote to you all that i was more concerned about her depression still stands. She keeps telling me if it was just the pain in her body she could handle it but it is so much more than that. I truly have NEVER heard her talk like this. I keep Praying tell her to do the same. I have an amazing group of people here who keep me laughing and always have a way of getting me to look on the bright side! My Sailor girl was told she has two years in which she can come back. We will just keep a "The sun will always come up" Attitude and be thankful that we have today. I Pray for ALL of you and your Sailors. Everyone of you and yours i carry in my heart and thoughts. You are amazing people and your Sailors? I have no words to say Just how AWESOME I feel they are. God blesses us all in so many different ways. Keep climbing that Mountian ladies. Someday we will all make it to the top. Have an AMAZING day!!!  Good thoughts heading your way along with all the prayers i can say....

Hi Jill...   Sorry, we've been dealing with my other son's high school graduation stuff so I haven't been on the site for a few days.  The graduation ceremony was last night, so now I'm back.  Of course, this one leaves for Japan as an exchange student next month, so we'll have to get ready for that, but he doesn't leave for the Navy until next Feb., so we still have time with him before he goes to Great Lakes.

My sailor son is doing well in San Antonio.  Going through A-School to be a Corpsman so he has the medical classes which seem to be getting tougher as he goes along.  The A-School classes seem to move forward very quickly.  The first week he had a CPR class and called us to let us know he got a 96% on the final CPR test.  He was so proud of himself.  The next week he had a test -- veins and other stuff, I think -- and he ended up with an 82% on the test.  Still proud of himself.  The next one he decided he would just breeze through without studying -- ended up with a 70% -- YIKES!!  70% is the cutoff -- if the grade is below 70% you end up having bad things happen.  Something about intense study groups, no liberty, etc., so my son has decided that he better quit staying out until 2am with his friends and study instead.  I only wish I had been able to be like the Navy with the threats when he was still in high school and college.  Sigh...>>  Things sure would have gone easier.

I completely agree with you about BoomMom's positive spin on things going on.  Reading her posts is always uplifting and a true joy.  I can't help smiling!

Take care and have a great Father's Day weekend everyone!

Hugs!!

-Janet

LindenEmry: I love the Pax thing.  Thinking of your son, and hoping he finds something to read besides Naval History books, (which my son is now reduced to).

Tracy03: So glad your son is in better spirits.  There are always ups and downs, but usually, the first "down" is the worst, they seem to be better able to cope after that initial one.  My husband also works out of town (state, actually) so I sympathize with you in that regard.  And you are absolutely right about men looking at it in a completely different way than women do.  Venus and Mars....

Janet: haven't heard much of an update on yours in awhile.....what's up?

Also want to take just a moment to give my heartfelt thanks (to all of you, of course), but this time especially to BoomMom.  Your positiveness and humor have gotten me through a lot of nail-biting moments over the past few months, and I know I'm not the only one.  Many of you have posted something similar.  You're a blessing, and you have magical magic dust.  We love you.

On an amusing, (yet frustrating) note: I had emailed the Department of Veterans Affairs to try and get a little more information on the qualifications for the Montgomery GI Bill.  I asked one simple question regarding "Entry Level Separations", vs. "General Discharge under Honorable Conditions", vs. standard "Honorable Discharges".  My question, naturally, was how these different discharges affected their eligibility for benefits under the bill.  I was told I would receive an answer within 24 hours... then a week and a half later....I finally got my answer, and I quote, "The VA does not determine character of service, we suggest you contact the Department of Defense."
Ummm....not exactly what I asked, but I suppose that's a good answer for someone else's question.  So there you have it.

Tracy...   My husband is home all the time, but I find this site to be a huge help too.  I think that men just think a different way from what we think about things with our children being gone from home and in the military.  It really is nice to have other women here that really do know what we are going through -- especially with the various injuries and not being able to be there physically for our children -- like we have been through their entire lives prior to the Navy.  Anyway, glad that you heard from your SR and that he is doing better.
