RCU SHIP 04 DIV 741

Seamen Recruits are here getting medical treatment for minor injuries. FIT DIV is also in this area.

It's hard not knowing! That is the purpose for this group. Most likely if you are here your SR has had trouble keeping up or not passed a PFA due to some sort of minor medical issue. Often it stress fractures bringing SR's here. Know this when you don’t get a call that is a very good thing. Calling them is not a good thing and it can negatively impact your SR to have his or her “Mommy“ calling!  They are harder on them in this DIV than any other. They want them up and out. The best thing you can do is sends tons of mail. Send scripture and motivational mail. I know my SR said reading the Bible was considered a sign of weakness here. When you get a tearful call motivate. Stay positive and encourage you SR. This is a small detour to greatness and getting the I'm a Sailor call!  Recruit family and friends…“Navy mom friends are the best“…to send your SR mail as well.  NMH for you all!!

Hi LindenEmry, I'm sorry to hear of your son's injury so close to the end of bootcamp.  The mailing address I used when my son was there is:

Ship 4 Div 2341

3600 Ohio Street

Great Lakes, IL 60088

I'm not sure if they are still able to receive books or not.  Perhaps one of the other moms can give the correct info.

Good afternoon ladies and Happy Memorial Day to you all.

My son Brion was recently transfered to this Division.  He was in week 6/ day 3 of BC when he strained some tendons in his knee.  His PIR has now been pushed back two weeks. (Hopefully only two weeks...)   He's saddened that he could not graduate with his division mates but is determined to get through this setback and become a sailor.

Would someone please PM the address for Ship 04/ Div 2341so I can send him a book?  It's on the Navy's recommended reading list; I just wanted to send him something to occupy his mind while he is recuperating.    Thanks!

Jill, Bummer.  I sent you a private message. Sharon

Good morning ladies, hope everyone is having a great Memorial Day, and hope none of you are near the inclement weather going on today!
Got a call last night, got to talk for a long time, which was wonderful.  Unfortunately the news is not exactly what I wanted to hear.  He is re-injured, and back to Phase 2 again.  Not the same injury, this time it's a foot/ankle.  Not sure of the extent yet, he does for X-rays on Wednesday.  His spirits are as good as can be expected, and it was a big blessing for all of us that we had family at the house when he called, so he was able to talk to 5 different family members that he hadn't spoken with since January.  He is still hoping for a positive outcome, but resigning himself to other possibilities as well. Mail still seems to be a little sporadic, and the situation with the books and magazines is still the same.
Tracy, sounds like yours is settling in, that's a wonderful thing.  The friendships our SR's make there are what get them through the roughest times, (and the letters from us).

Karen, hoping that your head is pain free and we're all looking forward to your account of your upcoming visit.  BoomMom accused me of living vicariously though the rest of you, (and she is absolutely correct).  So we are ORDERING you to get better soon, and direct orders from NavyMoms are not to be ignored!

Blessings to all of you, and a reminder (to myself, more than anything), that no matter what we think we're all going through, the focus today and any other day, is to count our blessings, and remember that our SR's are alive, and protected, and are not in harm's way on this Memorial Day.  Prayers for all our service men and women who are not so fortunate.

Tracy - Good for you! I'm sure you're feeling a bit better now that your SR is acclimating and feeling more positive about things. I also hope you get a call from him today or tomorrow so that you can hear that he's doing better! Heck! I hope we ALL get calls from our SR's and Sailors, right Jill?!

And....ummm.....actually, Karen....errrr....it wasn't a sentiment...per se...um..it was more of a command---kind of...sort of...maybe...? Because I really want you to be there to attend Patrick's graduation! But I'll settle for begging! Please, please, pleeease, get better so that you can be there! <wink!> Prayers and Hugs!

Thank you boomMom for the reminder of those who have served in the past.  I'm sure we all know someone if not several people who are veterans.  They truly are heroes and so fortunate to still be here, and not among the many casualties of war (my Dad a WWII veteran among them).  Thank you also for your prayers.  I AM getting better each day, and I appreciate so much your sentiment of wanting me to be in CT next week (actually 5 more days!).

Tracy, so happy to hear of your news of a letter.  (Hoping the phone call will follow today or tomorrow).  Great to hear he's sounding more upbeat and is getting a little help from his friends!

I'd also like to include those who have served and for those who have paid the ultimate price for our freedom! For them and their families Bless You and Thank You!

I pray, still, that you're getting better and stronger, Karen! I want you to be in CT next week!

I wholeheartedly echo Janet's message!  Happy Memorial Day to all Navy Moms and families of children serving our blessed country!  Hope all enjoy a wonderful and relaxing weekend!

I would like to wish each of you Moms here a very relaxing Memorial Day weekend.  No matter where any of our children are -- whether in RCU, in RTC, or actually stationed somewhere else -- they are performing a great service to our country and I know each and every one of us here recognizes that fact. I hope each of you gets a phone call from your SR this weekend -- that would be a wonderful treat -- and we want to hear about it too.

Keeping each of you and your SRs in my thoughts and prayers!!  Happy Memorial Day!!

Thank you so much Jill (your sentiment totally touched my heart!), Janet and Tracy for your prayers.  They are appreciated much more than you can possibly know.  Janet hit the nail on the head, knowing I've not attended a graduation for Patrick yet, since he graduated right from RCU.  Believe me, I'd have to be absolutely dying not to go!  We are driving, and I'm sure my husband will drive the whole way, so I don't need to worry about that.  My worry is feeling ill while I'm there, and not being able to have the wonderful weekend with my son (his father, stepmother, sister and of course my husband) that I've been looking so forward to.

I am feeling a bit better today, so your prayers are working.  Thank you sooooooooooooo much!
