It's hard not knowing! That is the purpose for this group. Most likely if you are here your SR has had trouble keeping up or not passed a PFA due to some sort of minor medical issue. Often it stress fractures bringing SR's here. Know this when you don’t get a call that is a very good thing. Calling them is not a good thing and it can negatively impact your SR to have his or her “Mommy“ calling! They are harder on them in this DIV than any other. They want them up and out. The best thing you can do is sends tons of mail. Send scripture and motivational mail. I know my SR said reading the Bible was considered a sign of weakness here. When you get a tearful call motivate. Stay positive and encourage you SR. This is a small detour to greatness and getting the I'm a Sailor call! Recruit family and friends…“Navy mom friends are the best“…to send your SR mail as well. NMH for you all!!

Tracy03: The boredom has been my son's chief complaint also during his time at RCU. It is so hard for them, but even that can teach them valuable lessons. They learn to appreciate the tiniest of blessings in life...... Hang in there.
Hoping that everyone has a wonderful Memorial Day. God bless all our sons and daughters, husbands and wives, boyfriends and girlfriends, and all the men and women who serve this country.
Tracy, either way I'm sure it was tough on your SR. I really do hope you have the chance to speak with him this weekend on a phone call. I'm sure you'll feel better once you talk to him and know how he is right then.
Oh, Karen... I'm so sorry to hear about the migranes. Yours sound just horribly debilitating. You poor thing!!! I'm hoping that this medication works quickly for you. I just looked at the calendar and realized that Patrick's graduation is NEXT Friday -- YIKES!!! Will you be driving the (I believe) 6 hours to where he is? If so, maybe you can just be a passenger, lay your seat back, keep your eyes closed and make it. I know how important this graduation is for you... since there was no formal PIR for him at RTC -- I'm with you on that one and want to make sure I can make it to A-School graduation for Garrett too -- so, I know you really do want to be there for this. Definitely keeping you in my thoughts and prayers!!!
Hugs!!!
-Janet
Okay ladies, we have a new mission: One of our very own is asking for prayers to feel well enough to get to her son in just a short while.
I don't know anything more worthy of our prayers......
My dear Navy Moms, I've been very ill the past few days, and just today finally feel well enough to log in and catch up. Forgive me for keeping this brief, but I want to share a few thoughts.
Debra, I also had major tears in my eyes reading your post about your son's homecoming and your surprise to find him there before you thought you would! Praise God! So thankful he's home safe, and you had a wonderful birthday. Now you can help him heal and focus on whatever direction the Lord has for his future. How great to have his uncle to share with - another blessing! So happy for you.
Phillies, I can't tell you how sad I was to hear your daughter's news. That sweet girl has been through so much, but she is STILL perservering!!! That says so much about who you raised her to be, and what her character is. Praying she will find the Lord's direction for her life, whether it be another job in the Navy or elsewhere. God bless you both as you continue this difficult and challenging journey together.
tracy, so sorry to hear of your son's depression, but as some of the other Moms have shared, it's very normal under the circumstances. When their "own" division graduates, they truly are dealing with a loss they need to grieve. I'm betting that when guys they've gotten to know in RCU heal and move on and they are still there, it just feels like another loss too. How difficult it's been for our kids to get through boot camp, but the GOOD NEWS is that many do, and become stronger for it. Those that don't for one reason or another, I believe God has a special plan in place for their lives, whether it be re-enlisting down the road or something else. They certainly will be stronger men or women because of the trials they have suffered and successfully made their way through. Praying for you and your boy at this difficult time.
tyelersMom, oh my goodness what FABULOUS news!!! I found it amazing how the Lord orchestrated the timing of tyeler's PIR along with his birthday. Isn't God good???!!! So very happy for you and hope you will continue to update us on his progress and his PIR.
Sharon, hope things are continuing to go well for you and Kevin. You remain in my thoughts and prayers.
BoomMom and Jill, rooting for letters or phone calls from your boys! I think you are two of the strongest women I know and appreciate your positive attitudes so much - you both really are an inspiration!
Janet, you're such a gift here, and have shared the happiness and joy of your boy getting through RCU! Can't even begin to tell you how happy I am for you and Garrett!
If I could humbly ask for a few prayers for me. I've had migraines all my life and in the past few years they've become much worse - pretty much daily. I went to a neurologist this week who advised me to get off ALL pain medication. He prescribed a pill I take each night that will hopefully eventually ward off the headaches. Yesterday, I'm hoping was the worst of it - throwing up all day and a headache so bad I really wished my husband could have shot me. Today is a bit better - no throwing up - thank God - that is just AWFUL! In any event, Patrick graduates from Basic Submarine School on 6/1 and I'm praying I'm well enough to make the trip. I would absolutely be heartbroken to miss it, so any prayers you could offer up for me, would be a true blessing! Thanks so much!
Good morning all.
Janet and Sharon: did I mention how comforting it is to still have you here? You're better than chamomile tea, dears. :)
Debra11: Belated Happy Birthday wishes to you, and I am keeping your son in my continued prayers for healing and peace. God knows what He's doing, we just gotta figure it out, too. I don't know about you, but I'm usually a few steps behind where I should be in that department.
Phillies: Your road has been so long, bless your heart, and your daughters too. I just want to hug you both. I know everyone here feels the same. My son and I have had the conversation about how much more a person can take... and I always tell him, "Much more than you know." and then we tell each other the story of Job, again and again...
TyelersMom: Big big woohoos to you! Best news I've had in days. Congratulations to you and your upcoming July Graduation and Birthday to boot! Can't beat a deal like that.
BoomMom: Your geography sucks because you live in paradise and don't need to think about where anything else is located. You realize that you are also the most likely to actually have us all come visit you IN PERSON, too. Now isn't that a scary thought? Hee hee. I'll bring you some Missouri clay and a mule or two. Hope both of us get some news this weekend..... hugs to you.
TylersMom... WOW!!!! {{Doing the "Happy" Dance for you right now...}} What wonderful news!! Well, you now have the "light at the end of the tunnel" for when you'll get to see your son. I really am so happy for you and your son -- glad he is physically fit as well. Great to hear!!! Also, don't forget us here -- we are now invested in you and your SR.
Tracy... Oh honey!!! I'm glad that you got a letter, but I'm so sorry your SR seems depressed. Just remember that the letter was probably written during the weekend, so hopefully he's leveling out with his emotions. I know that the weekend of their original PIR is normally VERY DIFFICULT for the SRs. It's the weekend they were envisioning from the very beginning, and now things have "passed them by." I'm not sure what it means to have a friend "sectioned out." Does that mean the friend went back to a division, or was the friend possibly separated from the Navy? No matter what it is, I'm sure that just added to what your SR is going through emotionally. He's still in RCU, and that can be tough for them watching recruits come and go. I do know this because my son went through the same thing [he was there from Dec. 29th through March 20th.] He watched as kids recovered and left while he remained. But please know that he got through it and I believe it really built character and gave him a determination I don't think he had before. Hopefully you'll get a call this weekend and be able to hear your SRs voice to know that he's really okay. My thoughts and prayers will be with you and your SR. BIG HUGS!!!
-Janet
Tyelersmom - Hooray for your son! What a blessing for him and you that he is back with a division, has a PIR date that you get to attend and celebrate his birthday with him. Thank you for sharing this wonderful news with us, Sharon
That is GREAT news, Tyelersmom!! It's wonderful to hear that he didn't have stress fractures, but it IS annoying that they would diagnose without proof! I bet this was the longest 2 weeks that you've ever lived through, right? Well, I'm glad everything is looking up for you and Tyeler! Let us know as PIR gets closer and you get ready to go up (or down; my geography sucks!)
Phillies - I'm soooo sorry that your Sailor had to go through this, but when she gets past the disappointment, she will realize that her condition COULD put pilots/planes/passengers in danger. I've known people with anemia that pass out. I had a bout of anemia back when I was younger and I got dizzy and lost my equilibrium a lot (that's probably why I have vertigo, now). She probably never had these symptoms, but the Navy will not take that chance. Tell her I'm really sorry, but the Navy has jobs just as satisfying as AT, maybe even better. The Lord would not have made her go through all this without a purpose. My prayers and hugs for you and your daughter.
okay ladies,,, just had to tell everyone I just got a call from my son tonight and he got cleared for full duty... he never had any fractures i guess... it was just a sprain... how do they do that? diagnose fractures without any x-rays? I think they just automatically assume its stress fractures 'cause 9 times out of 10 it is fractures... well anyway, he said all the x-rays showed no fractures at all... he is in a new div now and PIR date is now July 6th (which happens to be the day before his 20th birthday) so if no more set backs, i will not only get to see him graduate but also get to spend his birthday with him :) (his A school is in GL too) im so happy I had to share it with all my favorite ladies :)
