It's hard not knowing! That is the purpose for this group. Most likely if you are here your SR has had trouble keeping up or not passed a PFA due to some sort of minor medical issue. Often it stress fractures bringing SR's here. Know this when you don’t get a call that is a very good thing. Calling them is not a good thing and it can negatively impact your SR to have his or her “Mommy“ calling! They are harder on them in this DIV than any other. They want them up and out. The best thing you can do is sends tons of mail. Send scripture and motivational mail. I know my SR said reading the Bible was considered a sign of weakness here. When you get a tearful call motivate. Stay positive and encourage you SR. This is a small detour to greatness and getting the I'm a Sailor call! Recruit family and friends…“Navy mom friends are the best“…to send your SR mail as well. NMH for you all!!

Good morning ladies, and I do mean GOOD morning! I was away from my computer last night, so couldn't respond, but was so eagerly reading all the posts on my phone as they came in. (How come all your posts looked like they were swimming? Must have been something wrong with my eyes...) Been a long time since so many of you had good news at the same time, It's almost too much for me to handle! lol
Sharon & Janet, I am so happy for both of you, those hugs, (current & very near future) have been way too long in coming. Janet, I was cracking up at your wardrobe quandaries, I would be exactly the same way. And Sharon, you better check in once in awhile so we don't have to come find you, cause this story isn't finished!
Jacque: News doesn't get much better than yours. Congratulations to you and your SAILOR!
Karen: thank you so much for still being here and posting. You don't know how much it means to us.
BoomMom: our time will get here.....
I wanted to comment on the fact that all the "old-timers" were here together again; Karen, Sharon, Janet, and Jacque (although I don't know where her post went). These were some of the moms that were here when I started lurking a couple months ago! So much has happened in the last two months! I would like to mention all the successful events that have happened since (yes, Sharon, having your son in your arms is a very successful story!), but I might have "you know who" knocking on my door! lol
Janet: what can I say! You ALL deserve this! (what's the matter? Can't find anything to wear?!?) And you know that I'm poking fun at you because I'm way over here out of reach, right? lol
Karen: as usual, I have happy tears reading your post! Just that one line: I don't think he EVER hugged me any tighter! That did it for me! <sniff!> Thank you for lurking! ;-)
Jacque: Congratulations on your Sailor's PIR this weekend! I'm so proud of her, too! Please share your wonderful reunion with us when you can!
We have all been showered with blessings from all the miracles that have happened here! Thank you, Lord!
Sorry for the double post, Ladies, but both times I had a book-length to post and this site cut it off at the same place! Oh, well.....In short, I'm happy for all!
Sharon, you have me in tears! Very happy tears and from laughing at that cashier story! I could just imagine her face; and then I start chuckling again! I'm so, so, so happy for you, your son, and your family. I see that there is a plan in motion and you're all doing your part to make sure that your young man will be ready to face boot camp again, or whatever he may choose to do. (pssst! Remind him to wait until AFTER the holidays this time! lol)
Dear Sharon, I can't tell you how happy and relieved I was to read your post. So thankful Kevin is home safely with you, and his attitude is so great and positive. It made me smile so much to think of that first hug between you after so many months. I remember mine with Patrick very well. I don't think he EVER hugged me any tighter! You, your husband and son have been through so much. I pray this initial time you have back together will be blessed beyond measure! I'm glad to hear you'll continue to lurk like me. I definitely will look forward to updates on Kevin's progress and will keep him in continued prayer.
Janet, another joy for me this evening was reading your post. YAY! After more than 6 months you will see your son NEXT WEEK!!! And...you'll be with him on Mother's Day! What greater Mother's Day gift could you possibly get this year?! I also look forward to hearing about your reunion and your visit. May it be overflowing with love and joy!
And to everyone else still waiting for their SR to heal, your reunions are coming too! Keep the faith, and hang in there Mamas! God is at work!
Kevin arrived home safely on last night. I can't begin to describe how wonderful it was to see him, hug him, talk with him and just be with him after so many months. He looks amazing and is a joy to be with. His attitude is great and positive.
Number one priority is to connect him with an orthopedist/sports medicine specialist to figure out why he continued to have pain while running as well as get him exercising/conditioning again. My husband is working on that this week.
We did a few errands this afternoon and our final stop was at Whole Foods so he could get some fruit. Now mind you, he continues to wear the original BCGs he got in December (he says he likes them) - the reddish brown square ones and his hair is about 1/2 inch long. The young female cashier comments on how cool his glasses are and asks where he got them. He tells her, "Boot Camp". She says, 'Where did you get them? and he once again says, "Boot Camp". Of course, I am trying not to laugh because she has this incredulous look on her face and I can only imagine what she was thinking!
Janet, How exciting for you and your family to be heading to see your son next week. Hooray for you! It will be an amazing time for all of you so enjoy!!!
I do hope and pray that everyone's SRs are healing, getting ready to head back to a division to finish Boot Camp and are able to make phone calls this weekend.
As always, thanks to everyone for their thoughts, prayers and kind words for my son during his time in RCU and now that he is home with us. I'm sure I'll stick around like Patrick'sMom - what does she call it - lurking around!
Warmest regards, Sharon
Okay, so I wanted to be there sooner rather than later. Is it really May already? This year has gone by too quickly. It's really weird though, when we were planning to see him in early January, I was planning the winter packing stuff. Now the weather there is HOT HOT HOT, so I will have to do the summer stuff. Hmmmm..... what to take..... what to take.... Such a dilema!! LOL!!
Too funny, Janet! You're so excited and distracted that you typed March 12 instead of May 12! LOL! That's okay, though, I understand! Get packing and focus! I'm so excited with you......!
Sharon... A special note for you. Hoping your son is in your arms again. Update us when you can.
-Janet
Okay ladies, we were finally able to make plane reservations. We will fly to see our son next Saturday, March 12th. My husband and I will stay a week, but our other son will only be able to stay until Wednesday. He's a senior this year and since its getting close to the end of the school year here, he has quite a few senior events he wants to attend. So, we'll just send him home and we'll stay the whole week. My sailor doesn't know how much liberty he will get, but any time will work for us -- it has now been OVER 6 months since we've seen him. I'll be sure to let you guys know how it goes. I'm so excited that I can't stop thinking about it. I'm making that list in my head of things I need to do. Knowing me, I'll probably start packing tonight -- I really am excited!!!
Anyway, hoping for letters for all this week, and (hopefully) calls this weekend too.
