It's hard not knowing! That is the purpose for this group. Most likely if you are here your SR has had trouble keeping up or not passed a PFA due to some sort of minor medical issue. Often it stress fractures bringing SR's here. Know this when you don’t get a call that is a very good thing. Calling them is not a good thing and it can negatively impact your SR to have his or her “Mommy“ calling!  They are harder on them in this DIV than any other. They want them up and out. The best thing you can do is sends tons of mail. Send scripture and motivational mail. I know my SR said reading the Bible was considered a sign of weakness here. When you get a tearful call motivate. Stay positive and encourage you SR. This is a small detour to greatness and getting the I'm a Sailor call!  Recruit family and friends…“Navy mom friends are the best“…to send your SR mail as well.  NMH for you all!!

Alright! San Antonio here you come!! I am sooo, so happy for you and your Sailor, Janet! Both of you deserve a medal or something! ;-) To think that his records kept him from leaving all this time! Makes me kind of think of Phillies and her daughter; I hope the office hasn't been waiting all this time (was it 8 months? Phillies?) for HER medical records! Just a thought...

AND, Janet, son #2? Already? What nuke test? Is that different from the ASVAB? Anyway, good luck to him! Your good news is my great news and I'm riding on cloud 9 with you!

<screaming!> KAREN!! How are you? Oooo! Top Secret Clearance? Oooo! Sounds exciting! AND he has his own place! Definitely grown up. You know, Karen, when I feel like I need a little happy pill, I look back in the posts and read about when you went to visit Patrick at RTC. Of course, one of the side effects of that happy pill is lots of tears, too! ;-D But happy ones! Great to "see" you!

Sharon - please give your son a hug for me, too! It feels like he's my own! Love and prayers!

Jill!! <---- that's an i, 2 L's, and 2 exclamation points, so it must be MY eyes because they all look the same! LOL! Congrats on Phase 3!! Pretty fast, I think, for a broken pelvis, though. Has it been 8 weeks already? Is there zero pain? Or at least tolerable? I know, from experience, that he must be frustrated at being idle for so long, but please tell him to take it easy, okay? YES LADIES, I have adopted all your SR's! LOL! Thanks for sending more puzzle books. I know they share. I sent my son ONE logic problems puzzle book, but all the others looked like the ones that I sent about a month ago so I didn't buy them! I didn't look at the pub. date. Next time I will. I did send him a couple of periodicals (Popular Science and some video gaming one), but those are like bathroom fodder! ;-) And yes, I know about THE BOOK, of which I'm getting close; which is why I highlight/copy every so often. I'm glad your son didn't get sick, and I'm hoping my son didn't either because he doesn't do "sick" very well since he hardly ever got sick. :-(

Take Care, Everyone (and their SR's); you're all in my thoughts and prayers....

Hi Sharon...   I'm so glad that your son is calling so often.  That really is great to hear!  I'm sure that hearing his voice heals your heart.  You always said that he didn't like to write, so calling sounds like the perfect thing for him.  It is wonderful to know that they have the freedom to phone that often -- I'm sure he needs those calls as much as you do.

Hoping for calls and letters for all the moms this week, and a lucky week for your son next week, Sharon.

Navy2011Mom, Hooray for your son!  I'm so glad to hear that he is shipping out soon.

My son is still in Seps.  He hopes next week is his lucky week and he gets to come home. He has been there 2 weeks as of today.

One positive thing about Seps is they can make phone calls.  Twice a week, they go to the NEX so I get to talk with him for about an hour.  Also, there are phones in Seps which they can sign up to make a 20 minute call.  Fortunately, he has taken advantage of that and called us a couple of times.  Seriously, I think I have received more phone calls than letters from him during the entire time he has been at RTC!

Thanks to all for your kind words, thoughts and prayers.  I do appreciate it.

Healing prayers for your SRs, Sharon

Hi all,

FINALLY, I have news!!!   I know it seems like forever, but it's only been a month since my boy finished RCU and RTC.  He called yesterday to let me know that he is finally moving forward.

Okay, info. for your SRs for when they finally get out of RCU...   My son was physically given his medical records when he left RCU.  He held on to them -- BIG MISTAKE!!!   They needed to be turned in.  Without knowing it, he was placed on "medical hold" while the Navy waited for his medical records -- and he had them the whole time.  He finally figured it out last Thursday, but had to stand watch and other stuff and did not make it to the office to turn the records in until they closed.  He ended up turning the records in this past Monday.  He received word that he will be flying out of Great Lakes (finally) on Monday, April 30th.  I asked how certain it is, and he said that they have a board that lists those that will be leaving.  His name is now on that board, so it's pretty certain.  YIPEE!!!

This whole (lengthy) experience can be a learning one for all of us.  I guess figuring out things like the medical record thing is part of becoming an adult, but it seems like such a waste of time...   I'm so glad that he figured it out.  I just wonder how long he would have stayed there if he hadn't found out.  Hmmmmm...

My other son is going down to San Diego this afternoon with his recruiter for some kind of Nuke test.  Hopefully that will go well for him.  He's planning on the sub thing like where Patrick is.

Karen-- thanks for the update on Patrick.  BTW, how was the Easter visit?

Debra & Jill -- So happy to know that your SRs are phasing up.  Wonderful news!!  It won't be too long now.

Tammy -- Hopefully you'll get a letter (or a call) very soon.  You're due, right?

Sharon -- I hope all is well with you and your son.

Hugs and prayers for all!!!

-Janet

Still checkin in here...can't stop thinking about you all!

Debra and Jill, so happy to hear good news of both your boy's progression toward Phase 4!  Yay with confetti flying!

Sharon, so sorry for what you and your son are going through with his separation, but glad to hear it's moving along so quickly and that he'll be home in your arms soon!!!

Janet, can't wait to hear about a planned reunion with Garrett.  Has he left RTC yet?

Everyone - Continuing to pray and think good thoughts!

My son Patrick is still loving life in the Navy and is very happy in his new home in Connecticut.  As for me and my continued walk with the Navy, I was just interviewed yesterday by a Private Investigator from the Government regarding my son.  He requires National Security Clearance for his job on a submarine!!!  That was daunting and something I never expected!

With love and prayers,

Karen

Note to all: Did you know that if you type a book in here, then hit previous page without posting that you lose your book???  Grrrrr, I'll start again.
MamaBear: I agree with boomMom, it's so great to hear from a veteran mom on here, I love that, although the word "deployment" sent my stomach to my ankles.  Good grief, we spend all our time praying and hoping for our loved ones to get better and get out of here, then one little word reminds me that there's a whole new world of worry coming up later.  Guess we're all just worry warts at heart.

I got a letter today!  Phase 3!!  Whoop whoop and bring on the confetti!  I know, I know, trying not to get my hopes up too much, and trying to stay prepared for anything....
He sounded good, and upbeat.  The only bad news in the letter was that they'd had a recent plumbing/sewage issue which was extremely unpleasant, but it's fixed now.  And they had a stomach flu outbreak, which my son was lucky enough not to get, but not so for about 250 others.  That is also now over, thank goodness.
He just finished "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo", said it was awesome, and started on the 2nd one "The Girl who Played With Fire."  I just sent a bunch of puzzle magazines last weekend, which was a good thing, because he says they were out and wanting more.
He is well, and in good spirits, except that his "inner nerd/geek" is slowly starving to death, and is a pitiful specimen of what it once was.  (My son is IT, computer guy all the way.)
Sharon, should be getting really really close for you, have you HUGGED your so today??
Janet, starving for news from you...
Debra11, unless I misread something, you must be the luckiest woman on earth, and you need to start buying lottery tickets, cause you are the only one who got a phone call last weekend, and on a Sunday??  Wow.

BoomMom, yes, the picture that I was talking about in my previous post WAS the one of Janet's son.  lol
All other moms, girlfriends, and wives, (I don't think we have any wives on here currently, do we???) You are always in my thoughts and prayers.  One day at a time, one hurdle at a time, right?

Wow! It's nice to hear from a "veteran" mom. I'm not sure if "deployment" would make me feel better, but this is what our SR's signed up for. May your daughter have fair winds and following seas...Thanks for dropping by...

Hi 2341 ladies! Just sending good thoughts and prayers to take us through another week!

Good morning!

Just checking into this site, it's been along time since I visited this site.  Just wanted to lend my prayers and support to all who might have a loved on receiving medical treatment here is.  Your loved ones will get through it, it takes time to heal any type of injury!  Keep a positive attitude, laughter in your heart and a smile on your face then anything is possible.  I know how hard it is for the families when some one is using this group but it will get better.  My daughter was in the sick area for almost 2 months back in 2011, during boot camp and now she is on her 1st deployment to Afhganistan.  I will keep all of you in my prayers!

Sharon...  I'm happy that things are moving forward for your son and not just dragging along.  Hopefully he'll be home and in your arms soon.

Debra...  Great news about your SR.  It sounds like he's getting close now.

Comment by SharonW on April 22, 2012 at 8:49pm

My son met with Legal on Friday. Next, the Commanding Officer signs off on the paperwork so it looks like he could be home by the end of the week.

Last week he said there were about 90 guys in Seps.  Today, he said 28 went home since we last spoke and there are about 140 guys in there now.

I'm glad to hear some got letters and/or calls this week and hope that your SRs are healing and heading back to a division soon.
