Ship 11/180 Moms AFTER Bootcamp

Moms/Wives of 11/180:  We were great support for each other during boot camp.  Let's keep in touch and update each other on how our sailors are doing.  PIR was awesome, but liberty was too short.

The same to you Jan.  How is your sailor doing?  He's at Groton, isn't he?  My son is at Dam Neck, VA and is on duty today.  Last year on the 4th my sister got married and we later attended a big soccer game in LA.  It was the ultimate in festive but this year, we are having the ultimate in patriotic.  My son is serving in the Navy on the 4th of July and I could not be prouder.  Ben is loving the freedom he now has, but I think he misses boot camp a little bit (unbelievably)  They were a pretty tight knit group.  Happy Independence Day to all of you.

Well Happy fourth everyone.  My hubby has to work all weekend.  It is his first phase 3 weekend and he cannot leave :(  ge us really bummed out, but next weekend he is all ours.  LOL!!!  He is doing really well he made the position of Yoeman, which means he is in charge of when and where his group does their watches or something.  I'm not 100% sure all about it LOL!!!This base here must me the most relaxed or something because they can do whatever they want.  They do not care who comes in there or anything.  Sometimes it seems a little out of control, but what do I know.  They have 3 bars on this base alone not to mention all the ones just outside.  They come home drunk pretty much everynight.  I have had to sign James in just so he can sign back out because he was told to walk us back to the car cause of the drunks.  No one really gets in trouble for anything it is crazy to hear all these other stories.  James got a huge tatoo on his side I will post a pic.  Hope everyone is doing well!!!!!!!

Julie, I have to share that story with Ben.  He will love it.  It sounds like our 180 sailors are all doing well.   Didn't you just know they would after the way they peformed in boot camp?  Happy Fourth of July Moms/Wives/Patriots!  I am thinking of all of you and your sailors this weekend.

Julie-BWA-HA-HA-HA! I can JUST picture it! Too funny! Glad he's doing well.

MommaCindy- I AM JEALOUS! You lucky thing! Really though, I am happy for you!

It is my Sailors Birthday today (sigh) his first one away from home. he got a four day weekend but is all the way across the country from us. He will be going off base for the first time today as he has already made phase three liberty. He'll go with his roommate. He COULD go alone but it is better to go with someone. They are instructed about this...safety in numbers. Lots of jerks out there.

He had a bit of a rough start...the chaos of a new base and everything that has to be done. It was a lot like BC in the beginning, PLUS adding in doing all the necessary of setting up "life".  Started experiencing the "fun" stuff like trying to get ONE piece of paper signed ...for a week! (I've seen DH STLL go through this after Umpteen years in the Military! LOL) Classed up real fast and then started zipping through the material. He already had his midterm and will be doing the certification for this portion (I think-not sure about the whole process for IT yet. He just said certification!) of school next week! He is doing better though! YAY! Pray it continues. He "heard" that it gets a "little" easier from here.

He is able to go to Church regularly now (it was hard in BC-especially with being sick) and that has helped so much. Sunday evenings always has a worship/social/messsage time. One night they served Popeyes to them...gratis!

Oh and OMG, I forgot to say Congratulations to Brandon for the 100%! Already got his orders...wow!

It's really good to hear from everyone!

Wow, too pretty to eat!!  He can bake for me anytime, I cannot make a pie crust to save my soul.

Jeff is coming home this weekend, I am waiting for his call to pick him and 2 others up.  I am so excited!!  He has to be back Monday for watch, but I will get to see him for a couple of days.  Yeah !

OMG, what an amazing piece of pastry art.  Did you know he could do that?  The kid would have been baking more pies at home if you had known I bet :)  I told Ben Brandon got his orders and will deploy soon.  He was a little surprised one of his 180 buds is going to the fleet already.  I guess boot camp was practice for us now that it's all getting real.  congrats on his 100% score.  SO good to hear from all of you.

WOW- that is be-u-ti-ful! Woo-Hoo!

"Yummmm.. pie..., Chief"

Dang, when he comes home on leave, he gets to make dinner!

My Dad was career Navy and he remembered some of the cooking he had to do when he was in...he would make HUGE pots of Navy Bean soup and chili at home occassionally...I am an only child. LOL

Thanks for the pic and update!
