Amen to that Kimmie...this group is amazing!! I've jumped in to a few conversations going on in other groups, but just one mainly. If there's any activity on the others, it just seems like a clique has already been established and I'm not in it. Oh well! :)

Kimmie - you also might want to see if there is a page on here for USS San Antonio - I found one for the USS George H.W. Bush (The Bush) and many nice people there to help.  My daughter is an "undes" too and will be leaving in Oct for her first assignment on The Bush.  Her A School was shortened by a week and before I know it I'll get to pick her up at the airport for a visit (WOO HOO).  One things for sure, our SA will be learning their respected ships from the keel up!

wlbradford...you couldn't be more spot on! It is way worse!! I guess the program is EXTREMELY intense and not for everyone...the Navy just wants to weed out those that aren't up for the intensity..I read an article today put out by the military that says it is compared to the Seals training. And I guess that makes sense because if he makes it thru thats who he'll be flying with, with being Spec Ops...C-R-A-Z-Y if ya ask me...but he is sooo gunghoe!

Sounds like he went from boot camp to worse!!!! Wow, PT for 18 hours a day???? That's just insane to me, but so glad he has his priorities on check!! Mom I know you're so VERY proud!!!

Hi Ladies!!! Haven't been on since grad... Life is good, especially with communication now haha! My son is in Pensacola. He found out a couple days before grad that he and one other Sailor in his Div qualified for special ops. We are so proud. He is at Aircrew School. His training will be for 18months to 2 years considering the nature of his job. But he does get to come for 2 weeks at Xmas!!!!!I wish I could say he has had relaxing time too. But NO he has been IT'ing since he arrived. Sometimes it's 18 hr days! He had 6 DOR(drop on request) and 9 today! Now those have gone undesignated. He said theres no way in Hell he will give up...he'd rather keel over dead! not funny... Anyway thats the skinny on my end! Glad BC is over! Love the new found communication!! Woohoo!

Yeah, appreciate her time home because on an AC - she may be gone for a very, very, very LONG time....I'm not expecting to see her again until 2012.

Congrats Anita.  I know you are truly excited and anticipating having her home for a while.

Tina - My son does PT three times a week and does have inspections.  He also has watch and is working on his Phases.  He said that once they are allowed to leave base they have weekends where they post trips such as paintball, Disney World, etc (though they fill up fast) so he is looking forward to that but in the meantime, as he put it - he eats, sleeps, cleans, rinses and starts over!  He really likes his roommate (so far he only has one) but he is a PO and has a lot of freedom.  They did have a cookout this past weekend though with others that live around them.

Well, today I learned my daughter will be coming home a week earlier than origionally planned.  Her graduation from A School has been moved up a week.  She'll be home a week earlier and off to the USS George H.W. Bush (nicknamed "The Bush") early too.  As I said many weeks ago, nothing is written in stone (esp when it comes to the military!  LOL).

FYI ~ seems there is a dept on base that handles the travel arrangements for a SA's trip home and off to their first assignment.  She shows up there a week from tomorrow, picks up her plane tickets and pays for them then.  Told she does get a discount, but she still has to pay something.

ALSO!  (something good to know), she is getting 10 days Liberty - BUT! - she will be working five days at the Recruiter's office she processed out of so those five days will not count against her as liberty days...so she will be here ten days BUT only five will be taken off her liberty time!  She has to call them and make arrangements when she'll be working there.
