Momof4...first Im SO sorry. My daughter was separated as well. It took about two weeks to get her home. This is REALLY hard on them being in seps and it seems like the guys have it a lot harder than the girls..just love him and remind him that the fact hr was willing to step up and serve puts him in a place of high honor and pride. If you just need to vent or talk....we all get it! Hang tough mom!

momof4 it depends on if he is going to fight his case.  If so, expect him to be in seps about 4-6 months and he may not win.  When he goes to legal make sure he signs the waiver saying that you can know about his case and call on it when necessary.  If he doesn't have to stay in the medical unit so his shoulder can heal he will most liekly be in there 2-3 weeks after he goes to legal.  My son is coming home tonight and he was in seps for 16 days.  I can't wait to have him home.  Good uck with your son.  Read the previous posts for more info and don't be afraid to ask questions to the other moms.  This forum was the best thing for me and my husband to learn more about what goes on there.  Your son should also be able to call and use the computer whenever they have the chance and their priveldges are not taken away.  If you haven't heard from himin more than a couple days call the seps admin. office and request that you have them get a message to have your son call you...

Just found out today that my son is being sent home due to a shoulder injury.  They say it's pre-existing, but he never had any problems before.  He is very down.  Can anyone tell me how long it usually takes to get them home? He's only been there 12 days!!

Just got call from son. He is flying home Wednesday. No details, but very happy to know his stent in pergatory is over!

Rosewomn, It will take some time. It took so long for my daughter to go through Med board and then come home. She was in so much pain that all my co-workers jokingly wanted to go and get her themselves. My only saving grace that I was given a phone number to call when I wanted her to call me or to know what was going on. I tried not to call too often but sometimes I couldn't stand the not knowing. I only called a few times at night disturbing this wonderful person at home. Lol Just got my hair done and had dinner with my daughter and she is talking about going Air Force. Thank goodness it will be awhile so I will have a chance to get use to the idea. :) I hope all goes well for your son. You are so right about others not understanding. Thank goodness for Navy For Moms.

rosewomn, i feel your pain.  I was exactly where you are at 15 days ago.  My son is scheduled to leave tomarrow and the waiting is killing me.  When he was in BC i knew he was going to be gone for 2 months, but in ship 5 it is a waiting game.  Tell your son not to get his hopes on leaving any earlier than 2 weeks.  It seems like it is about 10-12 days after they talk to legal.  He will learn a lot about himself in ship 5 because there is nothing for them to do but read, watch tv sometimes and sometimes have computer or phone priveldges.  Don't count on the calls because it seems like they are always get their priveledges taken away for someone being out of line. I am sure my son will have lots of stories to tell when he gets home.  He will need to decompress for a bit before he faces the world again.  I just hope he is not damaged from all the crap they put them through.  Keep strong and you and your son will survive.  You can call the seps admin office if he has signed the waiver for them to talk to yo about his case.  Sometimes if you tell them to have your son call you, they will allow him to make a call.  It worked for me twice.  I am waiting for my son to call tonight with his itinerary for his departure tomarrow.  I just hope they don't make him take the train or bus as we are in CA.  anything will be better than being in seps though.  Take it one day at a time.

I just talked to Petty Officer Brown with legal. My son hasn't even been in to talk to them yet, but PO Brown was able to give me the information on what was happening. My son will still be there for 10 -14 days and I so badly want him home. I was handling everything so much better when I thought he would make it through BC and now I am just a confused mess. He still talks about wanting to go back, but his code is one where he will have to jump through so many hoops to be able to re-enlist in any service it will be almost impossible I am sure. I don't know how to tell him this, he already feels as though he has failed and he is a person who doesn't handle failure at anything well. I keep telling myself one step at a time, one day at a time, one minute at a time. I am grateful I have somewhere I can share my feelings and others will understand because nobody here does. They just don't know my son like I do as he and I have always been very close. I just need him home so we can start working on making things better.

camilleann - So happy that your son will finally be home - tomorrow!!  Only 24 hrs!

I'm heading to the airport today at 3:00 pm to get my daughter and I can't wait to get my arms around her!!

Continued prayers for each one still waiting to come home and for each Mom waiting to welcome them.  ((HUGS))

My son will be coming home on Tuesday and I can hardly contain myself.  He will have been in Seps 15 days.  It seems like months since he first called to tell us he was at ship 5 and all I keep thinking about is hurry up and get on that plane so we can have you back home safely.  Since he has been there the recruits he has been with have gotten themselves into trouble and they have had to tow the line 3 times.  This means stand on the line until they tell you to move.  Yesterday he said it was for 6 hours.  The officers take away their couches and chairs in the lounge, the phone priveledges and board games to make it even rougher on them than it already is.  Bootcamp is much easier than what these recruits are going through in SEPS and I know that if my son would have been given a fair chance he would have almost been done with bootcamp by now and graduating.  It is sad the he doesn't get to fullfill his dream of be a navy soldier, but I know that he is a strong individual and will succeed in whatever his life has in store for him in the near future.  Being in the military is not the end of the world for him and there are many more options to explore.  Sometimes things truely do happen for a reason and it must have been gods plan for him to come home.  To all that have sons or daughters that are now in ship 5 and are waiting to come home, please keep in mind that our kids are doing the best they can with what they have been given.  When one door closes another one opens.  One more full day of SEPS for my son and then he will be on his way home to a healthier environment to heal.  Thanks for all the support ladies.

Thanks all for your replies. It was wishful thinking. My son will be coming home in the next few days and we plan to take him on a "mental health"vacation to Orlando . Disney is offering those with military ID a 4day park pass for $138 for up to 12 passesinstead of the usual $254 ,so as there will be 6 of us going it would have saved a lot of $$$!
