Itsmemom, my son moved to Ship 5 this past Thursday night. He went through blood tests for 4 weeks before they finally discovered what was going on. I'm not sure what his discharge code is yet. Thank you, I will likely come here with questions that arise!

Anita---sorry to hear about your son---he will probably be home in 2 weeks or so. You may want to make sure he signs the papers that you can speak them about whats going on.  He should be able to call you every day.  Make sure he has his calling card top up. It gets expensive---plus when my daughter was there she could use her card to go on internet--again expensive---like $5 for 55 min and it is a slow connection.  Ship 5 is boring, not a lot to do---he may have to do guard duty.  Also my daughter was there in the late spring and she did sign up to do "work party" basically it's getting out of the building and doing work around base. It past the day and was something to do.  

How long has your son been there for? And do you know why he is being discharged?  Is it something he can fight for to stay in?  I know they tell the kids that with certain codes they can try again in 6 months with a waiver, but that won't happen.  The Navy is so overmanned there are 10 people for everyone one in.  Just make sure he gets a good discharge code.  Take care---any ? ask here

tks-glad to hear the dentist is gone---hopefully she didn't hurt anyone else. She should lose her license!!!! My daughter was lucky that her teeth were pulled a few years ago--I have great dental insurance in fact we have dual dental, and she even was put in a twilight (I may of paid for that). I will continue to keep your daughter in thoughts, hopefully this will all be over soon. Have they given you any idea when she may be home for good?  And are they letting her do anything special in Ship 5?  Being there that long hopefully she can be doing something.

itsmemom, My daughter said the dentist is gone. I believe she was Coast Guard. I hope she is going for more training and is not working on anyones mouth. If my daughter has brain surgery it would be to block her trigeminal nerve that was cut. This is the nerve that leads to the brain. We are not sure of  whether or not she would lose all feeling on that side her face. She can't operate machinery  etc. on this medication including driving. Once she is home we will start the second opinion stage.

My SR is in ship 5 as well, moved last night. He called this morning to tell me. A condition was discovered after he got there that we had no idea about. Luckily it will not affect his daily life. Sounds like we are lucky that his test results came back before he got too far in (problem diagnosed 3-5). Bittersweet but I can't wait to hug my son! I'm so very proud of him!!!

tks---oh my brain surgery?  I hope this dentist that did this is NOT working on other young men and women.  It is so hard to think this is all because of nerve damage. Very scary.  Did you say she can't even drive a car? While I hope and pray for the best---we certainly all hope she gets all that is deserve to her. Any ideas when she might be coming home for good?  I know last I remember you thought it would be for Thanksgiving---well I can see that didn't happen. Again she (and you) are in thoughts and prayers.  Take care. Plz keep us updated

I should have said seperations.  She can't do a thing on her meds so staying in or working for that matter is out. Only time will tell. I have to believe in Gods healing power. There may be another surgery when she is finally released to come home. Brain surgery is not something to rush into. At least I can go to the doctors appointments with her.

Tks ? She is back @ boot camp, does that mean she is going to stay in? How long before she graduates? And then what does she do? I thought she was waiting to be discharge. Wishing the best for her and that she gets all she deserves. I hope the dentist who did this to her hopefully something happen to him

itsmemom- my daughter is doing ok just tired of being there now. Her meds were increased and helps her sleep some. She still is in pain but is eating a little more. She went back to boot camp yesterday and is still waiting for her results.

ShowMeSailor---I am so sorry to hear about your daughter--my daughter was sent home several months ago and it was so hard, I come on here once in awhile to see what support we can offer to others. Yes it hurts very much to know that they can't pursue their dream. My daughter actually made it all the was thru, graduate and did PIR, was sent home 3 days later--thats another story. Your daughter will probably be home in 2-3 weeks, she should be able to call home almost everyday (mine did) which gets $$ make sure her calling card is loaded. Also, mine was able to use the internet---again it was $$ ($5 for 55 min). It is boring on Ship 5, but she can still due guard duty---also my daughter did what they called "work party" where they got to go outside and due work. At least got out of building. She will meet with legal----can try and fight the seperation. also make sure she signs the HEPA papers so you can talk to whoever there. Please come back here for ?? and support. Take care----
