tks- I was wondering how your daughter was doing and if she wondering if she was home for good yet.  We we actually in Chicago (son lives & works there) flying home out of O'hare. I look up and saw the USO office/room. I thought about her.  Hope she is home for good soon. 8 months is a long time to go thru what she has gone thru.  I hope she is home soon, gets all the $$ due to her and feels better. Take care

My daughter is home for Christmas and returns tomorrow. She is getting a medical discharge. Long story but it was their fault. It is taking a long time for all the paperwork to go through. She is finally done with Med board. ShowMeSailor, I will keep you in my prayers. This has been a long ordeal for my daughter and myself. Keep us posted.

Doesn't look like much activity here.  Worst Christmas ever.  It's hard enough that your child is away at boot camp, but to find out that she's been hurt and being sent home really made it a bummer.  Awaiting the fate of the legal appointment tomorrow.  If there's anyone out there that's "been there done that", feel free to reply.

My daughter was told about 2 weeks ago that she would probably be coming home this Friday and we found out today that she is! I am so thankful that they followed through and that all went as planned. Although I was going to see her graduate on 12/2...I will still see her...only SHE will be flying home instead. Lots of adjustments and healing to do. They treated her very well on Ship 5. She stood watch every morning on the quarterdeck and attended counseling and life skills classes. Although she was frustrated and bored at times, I believe it is important, after such intense training, that they have some time to decompress and adjust to civilian life a bit. I hope she keeps the skills she's learned, and this has been one big lesson for me to always be prepared for the unexpected and that life will always throw me curve balls.

Angie, Thanks I will take you up on the offer. I thought I would worry less having daughter home then at boot camp.That is so not true. Having her home for just a week and seeing her in pain is harder.

 itsmemom and Angie, Just got word today from a friend whose dad took my daughters info to the Pentagon. Things started moving fast after he did that. I got promising news today. I don't want to say too much because I don't know who reads these post. My daughter heads back to boot camp on Wednesday. I am very thankful that they allowed her to come home for Thanksgiving.   Angie, they are telling my daughter what they are recommending for her and it is all good. I am pleased with their recommendations. If she gets what they suggest she will be fine. However, no amount of money is going to take away the pain she is experiencing. Whatever God has planned for her must be great.

tks---I have been thinking about you and your daughter lately, wondering how she was doing. My daughter was in BC same time as yours, had PIR but was seperated a few days later. I come on this site every now and then, maybe to offer advice or hugs to people going thru this. I am glad you got to see your daughter, but wish she would be home with you. I will keep her in my thoughts and hope things get better for her.  Please keep us updated. Do you think she will be home for Christmas? Take Care!!!!

Angie, you are so right. She will not be able to hold a job or drive for at least a year or longer. She has a disibility that may or never heal. She will have many appointments at Bethesda which I will have to take off from work to take her.  Fortunately, my 4 kids and myself  were very healthy letting my sick leave pile up. We live in Virginia and I hate the drive to Bethesda.

 Hi all havent been on here in awhile since we got our son back on the 14th of october and he is still having tremors in his arms and now proceeded to his leg so they dsaid conversion diorder so we had to see a pych doc and he said not conversion disorder nothing wrong with our son so back to see a movement disorder doc not anything there snd now come to find out that this could be the cause of his problem (Sydenham Chorea) since he had scarlett fever when he was a child  and it is brought on by streph throat which he had in boot and then it relapsed again when we got him home so we are waiting for blood work to come back again our son is still sick way to go navy docs.

As far as medical, we were lucky and were able to get her back on ours. She realizes that she'll have to save if she wants college. For now, as soon as she gets home, she needs to find a job. Thanks everyone for your helpful responses.
