Space A Travel Eligibility
Ok, this is a very important link and I hope it stays valid if I forget to update it. Just so everybody knows, legal dependents are now allowed to travel Space A while their military sponsor is on deployment orders. If you don't know what this is it is very simple. You can fly at little cost almost anywhere in the world on a government aircraft. You sign up on a list and wait for your number to be called. So, if your sailor is deployed to say, Japan, you can jump on a Space A flight to Japan for say 30 dollars. I don't know the exact amount, but it is cheap. Take a look at this, Google Space A travel, you will get all the answers you need. If you have more questions, ask.

Is your husband over 25 if so he could rent the car for you and just add you as a driver. other then that I'm not sure. It might just be cheaper and less of a hassle to just drive. I dont think you will spend over $400 for gas because I drove from the top of Cali all the way here and I only spend $500  for gas, food, hotels, and everything. My drive was about 40 hours. So you might just want to drive because tickets are just going to keep getting more expensive.

For a visit. Plane tickets are so expensive and keep changing. Right now the cheapest I can find is from Delta - $374. Also, since I'm just under 25, I'll have to pay a fee and the cheapest I can find for that is either enterprise or hertz. Any suggestions?

I'm sure everything will be fine. Your coming here in July just to visit or move? If it's just for a visit I would calculate how much it would cost for you to fly here and to drive here. Like gas prices vs. a plane ticket and renting a car. Do what you feel the most safe and comfortable with doing tho. If you are coming to move I would take your car tho.

like CCity said, break it up.  Def if you are not used to driving.  I like driving so I only stop for gas and food and I always combine the two.  My wife hates road tripping with me.

Very true, CCity. I told my parents tonight and got crazy looks. I'm going with my mom in June to see how I do with it. If it doesn't work, I'm hoping it won't be too late or too expensive to get a ticket for July 1st. :\

annamichael- I drove across the united states from California to Pensacola. I drove for 35 hours. So no 12 hours is not crazy. lol. If you are going by yourself just split it into two days and take it slow. There's no hurry and if you take two days you can leave early and get into Pensacola at a decent time.

totally understand that, Gman. However, when we get our duty station I will be enlisting the help and my huge fam.. haha. I am nervous about driving that far by myself and I don't know if doing it in one day is better or if I should break it up?
Comment by Gman Navy Husband on May 11, 2011 at 10:31pm
annamichael, 12 hours isn't crazy at all.  I drove 19 straight from Iowa to P-cola.  Wait until you get your duty station and have to move all your stuff!  That will be crazy if you get the west coast!
Comment by annamichael on May 11, 2011 at 7:49pm
How long have yall driven before? I'm thinking I'm going to drive from NC to FL in July by myself. It's 12 hours for me. Is this crazy?
