my son was on hold for 3 months for a school and another 2 before ops and another 2 before his first duty station.  So.... tell her to get some interesting TAD and smile!

My daughter arrived at Point Loma on Saturday (she's a 4yr STG), and got her permanent barracks yesterday.  :)  She's had a couple of days of indoc, and we thought she was starting A School (2 months long) next Monday, but evidently there were 3 spots picked randomly and she wasn't one of them.  So now she's on hold.  Anyone know how long those holds tend to be???

In the meantime, I suppose she will do whatever....she said they may use her in administration, she wasn't certain.  But she's excited to get started and hey...if you have to be stuck somewhere, she's not suffering.  :)

Thank you Sailormum and Barbydahizz... etc. :) - I am glad to have the connections with you. We just moved to AZ from SoCal beginning of June so I am familiar with how lovely Point Loma is. Lucky location! I'm glad your son liked the classes Barbydahizz... Love the photo! Do you see him very often or are you far away? The inability to communicate with my daughter is what has been the greatest challenge, as it is for most. I write her everyday and have an email support group for her that I keep updated with news and encouragement to them to write. I have good days and bad days but trust in her decision which we are thrilled about and trust in the Navy. I am excited for what's ahead. Today is a difficult day because we missed her call on Sunday (just happened to go out of cell range when she called) and her vmail said she was out of calling card minutes. A post today on the PIR 10/18 site said that a mom heard from her daughter that the same ship/division might get to call again on Thursday. She has no way of knowing I reloaded her calling card and sent another, too. I can only hope and pray that she tries the card or buys one from the NEX if she is allowed to call before she receives my letter saying I reloaded it and the envelope with the second card (since I don't know if she might have thrown away the first card).  II just have to hope and pray that missing talking with us doesn't set her back, but I realize this is only one of many times this might happen over the years. It's just a huge adjustment.Did either of you miss any calls?

I will keep you informed as soon as I know anything. Right now they are just doing processing and room assignments.

Hi Sailormum and others: My daughter will graduate BC Oct. 18 and then head to Point Loma. I would like to follow the posts of those already there and those who will have recruits headed there to get a little comfortable with what she will experience.

GMA of a SR- Our Sailor surprised us at church yesterday; he's home for about 12 days. And he brought the long elusive CD! Woo-Hoo!

Is anybody's son or daughter starting "C" school next week?

ProudPapa....how was your visit San Diego?.....we are going to visit our grandson next month and are staying at the Navy Lodge Coronado....

Comment by GMA of a Sonar Tech on August 20, 2013 at 10:32pm

To get the pictures from the "A" School graduation...your son needs to get ahold of the CD and e-mail you the pictures and then you have to forward them on to Photo Lab or WalMart to have them developed...this is what my grandson told me over the weekend...so that is what I am going to do...(this is for Jillysmom)
