I'm getting so much conflicting information it's making me crazy. LOL...my daughter is also about to graduate high school so the crazies might be stemming from that as well. :) She's shipping off to BC on July 9th, and her rate is STG with A school in San Diego. The papers she was given last year when she signed up say 8 weeks A school with possibility of more training. I've read things on this site that say if your A school is not in GL then you leave that next day after PIR. I've also read that for this job there might be an ATT class in GL before they even leave. I don't even know what that is. And now my daughter is telling me that her recruiter is saying she'll be in GL the whole weekend, and that her A school will be six months in SD because of the advanced electronics. I'm going in circles. Can someone stop me please? :)
My son grads from ATT school tomorrow in GL. There will be two more ATT classes held at GL and after that ATT classes will be held in SD. Congrats in advance to those 14 (hopefully) graduating their ATT tomorrow! And they will ship out the next day - Hooyah!
The school is located directly across the street from Liberty Station...there are a couple of hotel ie. Marriott but you could stay right on base if your Son signs you in ..it is the Navy Gateway Lodge..or if you are retired military..also the school is located very near the San Diego Airport...also Shelter Island...
My son finished C school this month and awaits orders at Point Loma. Any recommendations for a hotel as I plan to visit soon?
Timeline for our Grandson...finished bootcamp 12/21/12....GL Tech school finished in end of March...now in San Diego at A school....was told it would be approx 18 mo....he seems very happy and so are we....have visited once and hope to again soon....it is my understanding that sometime soon he will be able to spend the night away from the base....
wow Janell!!!! Speedy.... so glad he got to come home for the holidays..
Here's another example of how differently the timing can go. My son, a 6 year STG, graduated from boot camp in July of 2012 and will finish C school already this July! He also stayed in Great Lakes for ATT, then to San Diego for A School, got to come home on leave for almost 2 weeks over this last Christmas. Then classed up for C School the day after he returned to San Diego! He had originally been told that it would probably take 2 years for all his training!
