Hi cshell!
and welcome! Because you SR has a 6 year contract, he will do ATT in GL THEN he will do A school STG in SD- point loma. (ATT is not A school) After A school, he will wait and do c school for his specific system when he is assigned. THey learn this in A school. C school is in SD or other places .
Hi cshell, welcome! ATT is in addition to A school. He will have liberty all weekend. Immediately after PIR he will have about an hour to spend with you, then he'll have to go check in to the base across the street (where he will be for A school). He will call you when he's finished (usually a few hours) and you can go pick him up! Saturday and Sunday he will have liberty early in the morning, like 6 or 7 am. Just make sure he is back on time each night, otherwise he could lose his liberty privileges! ATT is about 8 or 9 weeks, (not including hold) then they will send him to A and C school out here, in San Diego!
My SR graduates on 4/6 & will do ATT in GL, is that in addition to A school or is that his A school? If that isn't his A school where will A school be, GL or SD? He has a 6 year contract. Will he also have liberty all weekend? I know C school is in SD. Thanks
love seeing new navy moms here... thought i was the only NEWBIE at Point Loma ... welcome!!!!
Thank you so much for all the information...I am so glad i found this group :)
romisproudmom- you're welcome! My husband is in San Diego now. He's on hold between his A school and C school. We love it out here!! I just read back through the comments and saw that your son graduates April 27th.... I would suggest asking him in your next letter if he has a 4 year or 6 year contract so you can decide how long you would like to spend in GL. If he has a 6 year then you know he will have liberty Friday, Saturday and Sunday definitely and you can spend the whole weekend. If he doesn't, he will be flying out Saturday so you can also get a Saturday flight back home and spend the day with him in the airport. I believe they fly out of O'Hare but double check that as well!!
Navymommo-I went to my husband's A school graduation as well and I was the only guest there also. I was very emotional (lol) because I'm just so proud of him!!
Also if anyone has any questions about San Diego or the base I would be happy to help :) I live here with my husband.
Hi All! and welcome to Romisproudmom, Pheobe, and Donna!!
My son is waiting for C school. Went from another school to STG but the info on 4 year and 6 year contracts is correct- 4 years- directly to SD and classup asap. 6 years- ATT in GL, the STG in SD.
Let me know if you have any questions- my son finished STG school in november and is on hold now.
We went to his graduation- were the only parents there and were treated like royalty! lots of security and escorts....
San Diego is a fabulous place to visit. Please let me know if you need help with this!
It's great to see some new faces on this site!
