Thanks phoebe, that was on my list of things to look up.  Did you go on the water trip when you went?  I was wondering how long of a drive that was from SD.

Happy Memorial Weekend all you veteran moms!

My son went on a camp out hosted by the MWR.  He sounded so excited about it.  I think it's at Black Canyon. Where ever that is?  It's so nice that they provided activities like that for our sailors instead of having them sit there missing the cookouts at home.  Now I can't wait to hear his stories when he gets back.

Hopefully I'll get to go out the end of June, if I can find a cheap flight.  Any one know of any?

Phoebe, that story is so cute.  I was wondering if something like that ever happened.

Thanks for the Welcome. I had a hard time leaving the PIR group.
PIR was Awsome and we got to spend Fri. night, Sat and Sun. with her.
It is hard not to worry about our Sailors sometimes, but we're not in control
anyway.
It sure is nice to talk to her again.
I really appreciate the support I have received from N4M's.

It was so funny when Gaile called her son in SD to see if he knew my son and low & behold they were standing next to each other... Go figure!!  CRSmom your sailor will love SD.  And the friends will fill her every spare moment.

My daughter had her PIR in April of 2010 and left the next morning, very early, for Goose Creek as she was initially in the NUKE program.  We met her at the O'Hare airport at 3 a.m. to say goodbye!   She got dropped from NUKE and then returned to GL for several weeks for her sonar prep classes.  Then she drove, all alone, from GL to SD.  I tried not to worry...such a long drive for a young woman alone  But she made it just fine.  She's now in C School.   She told me your sailors will make lots of friends there but they are mostly in their own class.  it becomes like a little family.   While all of our sailors might meet and get to know each other, it's not all that likely unless they seek each other out.

CRSmom- glad you found us!  You can get just about any question answered on N4M's!  Wasn't it amazing to see your sailor after those weeks at bootcamp!  My son flew to San Diego the day after his PIR and was on hold there for two weeks waiting for his class to fill up.  He is in the middle of A school now and we are waiting to see where his ops class will be.  Once he gets that assignment he can come home for a visit!  He loves San Diego, your daughter should like it when she gets there.  Great to meet you!

Hi Everyone,
I just found this site, my Sailor had PIR on 5/13/11 and was on hold for A School
in GL until yesterday. She has to complete 6 weeks of classes there before she
goes to San Diago for A & C School. I didn't realize you could go driect from PIR to
A School in CA. Really new at this, so learning much. Thanks for all the information.

Congrats Joankf!  I hope you are able to go to PIR, it is wonderful to see your sailor after all of those weeks of hard work.  My son is in A school for STG right now in San Diego.  He loves it.  We are waiting to find out what is next.  Enjoy every minute of it - it goes fast!

Congratulations to you and your Sailor Joankf.   It's almost over!   Don't miss the PIR ...it's an amazing ceremony.   My daughter is in San Diego...loves it there.  The adventure is just beginning.
