merlin80, How long has your son been in Hawaii? Have you visited him there?
A great group to try out..... Lots of knowledge, big broad shoulders and hugs.
"Safe Harbor" A place to set down the sails and relax with each other. Whatever brings you here.. be it anxiety about your sailor, questions and fears... or just to visit.. You can be sure to find it here...Safe harbor where we chat , kick back, and offer support to each other. A place to celebrate life.. the good times and the low times.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! Thank you to all for sharing your sons and daughters with us through the US Navy! God Bless.
CJsubmom - I knew about the women on subs. It will be a work in progress. From what I remember the first women to join the subs will be officers and will be on the Boomers (bigger subs that stay out for 3 month deployments). I don't think this will happen for a couple of years, but my memory could be wrong.
It will be a long while before any female officers join the Fast Attack subs. Those are the small subs that stay out for 6 month +/- deployments.
My son is an ET/Nav and has been in the Navy for over 5 years. He is in Hawaii.
Did u know that women r allowed on subs now? It was passed last summer.
My son Anthony is on the USS Jimmy Carter in Bangor, WA. He has been on the sub since 2009 and joined the Navy in Aug of 2008. But I am new to navy for moms website. How do you email your sailor on a submarine that is out to sea.
Thanks for the warning Elle! Will definitely let my sailor know also.
Welcome merlin80! My son was at Groton 4 years ago and is now stationed on a sub at Pearl Harbor, HI. He is a Nav/ET.
