Submarine moms are special:

--- All of us have boys, "SAILORS!"

 --- Who serve on "boats,"

 --- With whereabouts unknown, and

--- We only get sporadic, short emails while they're out!

Tell us where your sailor serves...

My son, is on the Montpelier.  He is on his 1st tour and is currently working on getting his dolphins.  He is one of the Cooks on the Boat.  Can anyone tell me how long will it be before I will hear from him again?
navytwinns - it all depends on the boat.  if it ports, given permission to communicate, you never know how long.  he will call you when he can.  my son is on the miami and 1st deployment. i havent heard from him in 7 weeks.  i know its hard, keep your chin up.  if you need to chat log on were always here.

Thanks, been a rough week, no call from the son on the sub, and his twin left last week for recruit training command for boot camp.  He will graduate 11/10/11,  :)   Empty nest here now

Hugs to you!  I can only imagine how hard it must be for you right now.  Your first deployment and another Sailor in the making!  Hang in there Mom; you are in my thoughts and prayers.  You have raised 2 awesome men!

My Sailor has been on a sub for 4 years now and I have only been through 1 deployment.  It was tough at times, not hearing from him.  But we did make it through without too many tears and breakdowns!  It seemed to go by a lot faster than I was expecting in the end.

Fairwinds and following seas!

You are a very encouraging voice.  And I LOVE your closing sentence.  Suzy/NavyGrandmam

Thank you!

Thanks for the prayers, I will get thru this!  So proud of all of my boys!!!!

We all know what you're feeling, because we've all been there - but NOT both situations at the same time!  Know that your sailor who's on cruise has NO free time, because he's working hard to get his qualification pin ("Dolphins")... if the older crew sees him sitting, they'll hassle him to start studying or get busy learning tasks.  But, email him as often as you can because he LOVES hearing from you... even if it's what the dog is doing or who you saw at the grocery store.

Let it all out here whenever you wish... we'll hand you tissues and pat your hand; promise!  Hugs, k.

I have a son serving on the USS Houston in Guam and another son to be on the USS Columbia in Hawaii..The USS Houston is going to change ports in January to Hawaii so both of my sons will be in the same Port...Awesome...

That will be nice for your sons.  I don't know if mine will have the chance to get together mush as one is on a sub and his twins will be in EOD.

Michelle - I have a son on the Columbia.  He is on his first deployment.  There is a Columbia group you can join too - lots of really nice moms!  It must be crazy to have two sons in the Navy!

Yes because my son who is going on the USS Columbia doesn't have to report until Nov and it is his first deployment as well..He is supply (Ls)...My other son has been in for 3 years already...
