For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Comment by scubagirl on November 22, 2015 at 2:09pm: Yes, my sailor is headed to cold water this deployment. Not where he thought he was going when he arrived in VA. The flashlight I got him was a Surefire Fury. Not large but powerful and water tight with two powers for brightness. Also got a Leatherman Multi tool. As I said before we used the Dremel to put his name on both since they were metal and easy to label. He is on a Fast Attack. Looking forward to going to VA and seeing the boat off. Looking for warm, waterproof boots to wear. I am going to Vancouver, BC late January so I will need warm boots for both trips. Thankfully I am also looking to go to the warm waters of the Caribbean in February with the grandchildren. Cold is not my thing, hence the name Scubgirl. LOL

Comment by A navy mom on November 22, 2015 at 9:50am: My son is in GA - he graduates in a few weeks and will get to come home for a few weeks before he is deployed in January to WA state - he will reunite with good buddies going back to boot camp in GA - he also knows a few people that will be on his sub which is great!

Comment by Pat L. in IL on November 21, 2015 at 6:33pm: I don't know about all subs, but the one my sailor was on, the temp was kept at 61 degrees. Because everyone complained about being cold all the time, fleece jackets were ordered for everyone!

Comment by VKat on November 21, 2015 at 5:00pm: CCybergrouch, mine is mm blue crew. He got there in September. We are in Texas so the time change for us is hard to get used to. He often calls on his way home from work which is exactly when I either sit down for dinner or to watch my favorite show. Either that or he calls at midnight when I'm asleep(I get up at 5 am) I never complain though because I'm just happy that he still calls me often especially since he got married in August.
