Thanks Cath, it's so good to hear from you again, How are you doing, & how is your son? Where he is now? My oldest is still in Hawaii.

LindaGirl - You must be so proud! Amazing what a difference a few years make! He will be in my prayers as will you be!

Even though, i have been through this before, 5 years ago, seeing my oldest son off to Navy Boot Camp, it is never easy, & now today, I have to say "Good-bye" to my youngest son, as he leaves for Boot Camp today also. Please keep him in your prayers, as i still feel like this...

Hi,  Sailor is finishing C school and then will ship to a different state for deployment.  Sailor so far has been at GL. Goose Creek, Groton and currently in C school.

That's so awesome. I kept reading if it's less than 6 months they won't move your family and stuff. Granted I could go move there on my own dime, though it'd be easier with their help, and I think he'd have to request to live off base or something too, but I guess we shall see. Thanks again for sharing! You're awesome :)

My son was married after BESS and within a few weeks had base housing. Something to think about after BESS.

That's so wonderful. I'm currently only about a little under 4 hours from the Groton base. I've actually dated someone who ended up becoming a submariner so I know the base and area and all that jazz already. I've just never lived there. I'd visit almost every weekend x) Even if I don't get to live up there with him, I'm hoping he'd atleast be able to come in every weekend or every other weekend once he's earned the privilege to do so!

We were in CT at the time he was there- every so often he would just pop in for dinner!

Also I think liberty is a weekend and holiday thing whereas leave is like granted permission to take off for x amount of time. Could be wrong tho, haha.

Thanks so much for the response! I'm actually within the miles he can travel off his base (thank goodness). The one submariner recruiter we spoke to said he'd just have to keep those in charge at the school updated and let the whole baby situation be known from the get go and it shouldn't be an issue. So I'm hoping that remains true, lol. I know it's still a ways away, but if I end up not living there with him then I'd rather be prepared in advance, ya know? I also know about the whole earning your civilian privileges and stuff too. It takes a few weeks or so. Thanks so much for sharing some of what you experienced. I really do appreciate it :)
