Thank you Shea, he is stationed in Connecticut in will be on the San Juan. He is still in A school till next week. When he gets home, we will order his passport. Thanks for the info.

luvmy3brats someone my correct me if I'm wrong but yes he will need a passport as although they have their Navy ID they do enter foreign countries which require them but this maybe more for fast attacks. What will your son be on and where will he be stationed? The cell phone issue can vary depending on command but if your sailor does not have is Dolphins yet then he will have more restrictions as to what he can and can't have. They are expected to spend all free time studying and qualifying for them. He will find a way to call you when in a port if he does not have his own phone. Just always answer even if you don't recognize the number!

Hello all! I have a couple questions..my son will graduate this next week from a school and will get to come home for a couple weeks before reporting back to base. His boat just left for deployment and before they left his chief told him that he had to get a passport and they will fly him to the boat after he gets back from leave. Questions...1. does he really need a passport?? I've heard conflicting answers on this one. 2. He said he is NOT allowed to bring his cell phone with him at all, so he will be flying to some unknown foreign country and have no phone on him which stresses me out a bit. So really? no phones?? UGH, how do they call if they port? I'm spoiled, I have a sailor on a ship and his deployment was wayyy different. 3. Has anyone had a sailor who was flown to their perspective boat while deployed? How'd it work for you?? Just wanting an idea of what to expect so I'm not thrown for a loop. Thanks for any input you can give me. :)

Morning all!!  I have to admit I have at least 7 voicemails on my phone from my son!!!  Some were from boot camp, some after!!!  His boat recently returned from deployment and in two weeks he will be here!!!  I'm so excited I can hardly stand it!!!

hello all!!

scubagirl--really glad you got to see your son!!  I got teary eyed watching the video even though my son isn't on deployment.

Mamasota:  This September, my son is 10 years in... and I still have two saved voice messages that I listen to when I need to hear his voice!

Philly_mamasota, I think we all save our sailors voice messages, at one time or another!! You are not the only one who does!!

Thank you, scubagirl! That was a beautiful video for all moms. I haven't heard from my son in over 2 weeks. I was getting spoiled receiving an e-mail about every 14 days but he did warn me I might not hear from him for months! So for you to see your son's face has to be so wonderful! I do have a voice message on my phone I play when I need to hear from my son (I know that must sound crazy!) but it helps me get by.
