Thanks for sharing, scubagirl.  Very interesting video!!!  My son is home for 2 weeks following his 6 month deployment.  It's great to have him "home" meaning he's enjoying time with his friends!!!!

My son's FRG group posted a video of their sub yesterday.  My son is in the video at 29 seconds and 32 seconds.  He is the one in glasses on the second row.  The light is shinning above him like God is shinning on him and helping him get through his first deployment.   I am not going to lie I cried when I  saw his face.   When I call my husband who is out of town on business I started crying again. He heard the word Zachary but could not understand me.  I think I scared him.  I finally was able to say he is ok and then tell him about the video.  He watched it several times also.   His sub is deployed at this time.  It is safe to post as the Navy has released and posted this video.  I hope you all enjoy.

My son is on the USS Columbia.  I may have to get the contact infro from him. He is a "nub" so I understand he is very busy until he gets his dolphins.

Looks like I lost my message. My grandson finished BC in late Oct. has completed sub school, and something after that. He is now in A school (closer to me). I'm pretty sure I am many months away from having to understand half way boxes, ombudsman and deployments, but I am following the conversation and hope to absorb some knowledge. My bonus daughter does keep me posted, but I appreciate your questions and responses.

MaryBeth, what boat is your son on?  I'm sure that someone here knows someone who has a son on it and could probably help you.  My son is on the USS Texas, and I have to say our OMB and FRG leader have been wonderful-I only wish I could meet them someday!

Both my son's ombudsmen are great and informative.

Yes that does help.  I don't know how to find out who the ombudsman other than get the info from my son. He did send me the name of the FB page to get permission to access.  I would hate for my son not to have a half way box. What a deflating feeling for him!  I'll keep trying.......thanks!
