I am glad to read we all seem to have had a nice holiday. cheryl that was really wonderful of your son to surprise you. Rob got home for the holiday also. I knew he was coming in but did not tell my sister or my grandkids. I wish I had the camera ready when he walked down to the basement where we all were. My grandson Tyler, who is 9, saw him first and the look was priceless. He loves his Uncle Robert and has not seen him since early this summer. well I'll tell you, Santa would not have gotten a bigger smile and look of surprise. Too say the leasst everyone was thrilled. I wish you all this kibd of holiday. Love to all and now I have to go spend some time with my sailor, while the gf is at work.

Oh, forgot to mention that this was filmed in summer of 2004, so it's not new, but still probably worth watching to learn a few things! ks.

Ladies, I'm a database-digger... I love digging around the internet finding out stuff about whatever I'm interested in. I searched the Navy News site and discovered that USS ALABAMA was filmed by a Discovery Channel production doing a piece on various submarines, for its sister "Military Channel." So, I went there to see if it's airing any time soon and voila! Here's the "4-1-1:"

Size it Up: Subs
On the Military Channel (by Discovery Channel)

Take an exciting, behind-the-scenes look inside the U.S. military's most amazing mechanical marvels. From the stealthy REMUS, to the mighty SEAL delivery vehicle, submarines are considered one of the most powerful weapons system in the Armed Forces.

ALABAMA is a boomer... but it would stand to reason that they also included fast attacks too. So set your video or dish recorders... and then show your friends and family at the holiday gatherings! ks.

Well, as long as bragging is going around... my son called today to tell us he advanced! He's now a Petty Officer 2nd class (also an E-5 and a MM2)! He's on the sub Alabama in Bangor, WA... this will be the 2nd Christmas without him, but we may go out in March for spring break. I try to be a brave mommy, but he's my "cuddly" one and I miss his hugs :-( OK, enough wallowing... ;-)
