It's definitely a good deal...pardon my auto-correct

It'seems definitely a good deal.  A boat will have a number of qualified divers in the crew for some fairy routine and unsurprising duties. The main thing is doing security swims in the hours before getting underway, when some of the divers go over the length of the boat underwater to make sure there's nothing loose or that doesn't belong on the outside of the boat.  There will also be a diver or two topside ready to go in the water if a member of the maneuvering watch were to fall overboard while entering or leaving port on the surface.

Good evening, fellow N4M family!! Got a call from my sailor where I was informed that he was. Cooking his favorite meal for himself, re-de-fleaing his apartment after learning the perils of taking in strays and washing then with regular soap/shampoo...

But the reason I've come to you is that I was informed that he is planning to get "dive certified." When I said, "Cool! What's that?!" I got, "scuba diver for the boat when we're underway and in port. It means I've got some serious working out to do because its physically demanding."

Anyone care to elaborate? I have visions of him swimming out of a torpedo tube to save Alec Baldwin from freezing temperatures...

I bought severals sets of Polartec Power-Dry thermal underwear from REI three years ago.  They discontinued that and started selling Capilene a similar fabric but prices have gone through the roof.    Now the medium weight long johns are $59 apiece.  That is 3 times I paid so look for sales.  Under Armour is great too there is a factory outlet nearby.

You all are giving me a great idea for Christmas, even though he won't be home this year.  I sent some long underwear to him when he was in Groton but he brought them back before he went to HI, wonder why!!!  Anyway, perhaps a box will catch up to his boat.  :)

Hi Co-Twin, our youngest son has a set of each.  He likes them both equally.  The Under Armor was a little more expensive but when it comes to being warm and comfy it's worth it!

question, My boys ice climb, they liked Under Armor, how do the Chilly Peppers compare?

Comment by ELO.Navy.Mom on November 4, 2015 at 12:21pm

Don't want to butt in, but I found them at Dick's Sporting Goods, as well (on line, at least)
