TJProudnukemom, Fingers crossed that he gets the rate he wants!

Still waiting to know for sure but it looks like my sailor's re-rate from nuke school is going to "land" him on the USS Jimmy Carter. I think he asked specifically for that sub and there were 3 rates available. Still waiting to hear which he'll get.

Attack subs do have a FPO address and you can indeed send your sailor a letter using that address. There is no guarantee when he will receive your mail though, or that the boat will receive mail at the next port of call or anywhere else, while it is still underway.    I sent my son a mail once and it took forever to arrive.  Now that the boats have email it is better to use that.

Here is a link to all of the Navy's ships / Subs. You can send mail to the FPO and it should arrive at the next port if it is a Fast Attack or SSGN boat. Others are right that Boomers (SSBN) typically do not receive mail.  Hope this helps.

Catie, the is no FPO for deployed sub. You can send email to your sailor at this address: last name, first initial, middle initial, @ name of sub, .navy.mil. Your shoutd send plain text and no attachments. On fast attack boats, they may be able to receive email but not be able to always respond. But they do appreciate the family contact. The ombudsman usually lets you know about the halfway box (on fast attacks it is usually just st a gallon sized ziplock bag) and when it needs to be received so it can be stored on the boat. Hope this helps.

Catie,
As far as I know there is not an APO for subs. I could be wrong for fast attack. I know boomers do get halfway "boxes" but the ombudsman would have the details. As far as email, you have to wait to hear from your submariner. Fast attracts I'm sure have different protocol.

Can someone help me find an FPO address for deployed submarine?

Hi Tina, welcome back.  Congratulations to your son.   CO-TwinSailorsMom that is so funny, my son losestrack of where he parked his car too.  I have enough trouble remembering after parking in a mall for a few hours imagine what it is like after months.   Mine is still underway somewhere although we got to speak a few weeks ago when they made a port call.  This is quite a long patrol though Lol.

Hey, My son surfaced today and called his ma, He was so tired and trying to find where he left his car. He did several shifts of 24-3-24. He is doing good on his quals. He said they would be in port awhile now.

Congrates on your son Tina41.
