Rebecca I don't know yet how that would feel yet but i belie I would also be bummered/boomered out too :) big NMH my dear.
Like kevsmom93 keeps encouraging us, they are doing what they were trained to do and are growing to be the self sufficient man we raised them to be.
You know I have five kids and it's always the one that's not here and my youngest boy I miss the most.
God bless them all and us too. Thank You Lord for all the blessings you bestow upon us each day.

tysmom,

I am still laughing at your post! How funny! Never did you think your husband meant your son-"The dishwasher" !  How clever of him. :D

tysmom, what a wonderful surprise delivery!  The best dishwasher delivery I can think of.

Annette, my son is on a boomer and I had never thought about the nicknames origin..'boom', I get it now.

There is this little game going around on FB, to post your 10th picture on your phone.  My sailor posted his and it was from his enlistment party, we had so much snow that instead of putting out coolers for beer and wine, my husband and sailor dug out and created a cooler out of snow on our patio...then carved NAVY on the front.  It was a labor of love and so cool to look at.  Seeing that picture has brought up alot of emotions, so much has changed in the almost 2 years since he left for boot camp.  He has 1100+ days left on his contract if he doesnt re-up.  (btw...my sailor was 24 when he left for boot, legal to drink).

We are blessed that D and his wife will be with us for Thanksgiving and we are cramming alot into the short time we are together as much as possible since we dont know when we will all be together again.

Have a Happy Thanksgiving All, we know first hand the sacrifice givin for the freedom so often taken for granted in the United States.  Thank you for your service!  Blessings!

My son spent more days  at Navy boot camp than his total days underwater in a submarine but he has 2 NAMs Lol.

I have to share this.

My husdand texted me if I was home yesterday. He said he had a delivery coming. I asked what it was and he said a dishwasher. OMG I was mad.....we have no room in our kitchen for a portable dishwasher. I was brumming (Dutch word), to may friend and a van pulled in....I thought it was someone bringing food for our ministry...and there stood my son!!!!

Funny the day before he was texting me about the weather and how was driving and I said to him, are you coming home tomorrow??? Reply. Who me?

I have a big project list, one of which is painting, I frog taped my next section in our dining room....I am glad he slept for a while so I could get that done....

I do not think I will get a tree up....he was supposed to come home earlier and his leave was canceled.

And my other sons and my husband were in on the surprise!!!

a Big Thank you to Kaye and Rhonda for sharing your stories.  I know it comforts me to know I am not alone in feeling the loneliness in missing our 'boys'. There are blessings to be counted, and I know I need to make more of an effort on focusing on them.  Thank you to all you Ladies for your support.

Annette- Yes, you are right. I meant to type Boomer, but for some odd reason I typed Bummer. Maybe subconsciously I typed bummer because of how I'm feeling. When my son told me that he would be on Deployment during the Holidays I was somewhat prepared, or so I had thought. He had been  gone on Deployment during the Holidays before. Yet he was on his boat the Alexandria. Fast Attack sub can receive packages. Which made me feel better, because I could send him a 'little piece of home' and some Christmas gifts. That way he didn't miss the Holidays altogether. This time around I'm not able to send him packages that he will receive on the boat. This underway is a whole new experience to me, and I am 'bummed' (Lol) out. I can't send him a care package for Xmas and I doubt I will be able to Skype with him either. [I was able to the last time he was on Deployment]

Thank you Kaye S and Rhonda for the info on NAM. My son just earned his Dolphins so to me that is a big deal, now to see if he earns any NAM's. I am the biggest fan and cheerleader to my children. As far as seeing them. I do understand. My daughter is an oncology nurse who works nights so hit or miss on holidays. My son when he was home and worked was hit or miss on holidays since he was a cook for a restaurant. I use to work in retail so that was really hit or miss on holidays. But still you miss them always.
