The waiting seems easier once the letters start coming. We were very blessed and got the one short "I'm here " call but then we got 4 long calls over the course of the next 6 weeks. They were probably 30 minutes or longer. That is NOT the norm. They had a guy kind of freak out and eventually got sent home so they all got to call home the very first Saturday morning that they were there. Then toward the end you DON'T want any calls because that usually means they failed something and may not make PIR!!!

Call your kids recruiter, he should be able to give you ship and division.. Mine did.  Now I have heard that it is subject to change, but for now it works.  I haven't got a form letter yet and hoping it will be this week.  Can't wait for the real letters and phone calls.  It is so great to know we all understand what the other one is going through.  Thanks for the support!

Welcome Ladies!!  I hate to tell you but the waiting only gets worse!  My son is on his fifth and last year - fourth deployment right now!  He is still waiting to get his box I mailed him for Christmas - I mailed it Dec. 13 and he was only in Virginia at the time.

Suggestion - start writing letters - number them so he will know what order to open them and read them.  Send pictures printed on paper - not actual photos.  Copy cartoons and send those.  Just anything to connect him to home.

Learn to shower with your phone!  I still do and I know he doesn't call while deployed - but just in case!

Again, Welcome!!  Check out Molly's Adopt a Sailor group for something else to keep you occupied while he is gone!
