Elaine-PIR 10/1/10 - thanks.  yes, when I first posted on N4M several gave me great advice on which groups to join.  It has been a great help for me knowing what to expect.  I have started writing letters and I can't wait to get his adress to start sending them.  Thanks again!  I will definitely join the PIR group as soon as I know it.

Anybody know anything about planes tickets... I am trying to help my son get tickets from Pensacola to the Houston area as cheaply as possible.

bsanford-I checked your profile, you have joined a bunch of good sites for information. Yesterday was a USPS holiday so you will probably get your "kid in a box" today or tomorrow. Start writing letters now. Keep them short but positive. When you recieve the form letter with his address in it put them in envelopes, number them (1,2...) and mail them the next day. They will receive mail everyday as soon as they appoint a mailperson in his division. They will only be allowed to write on Sundays for about 4-5 weeks and then can write more often. I sent letters about 2 times a week. Join your PIR group as soon as you know the date he will graduate.

You are not doing anything different then the rest of us did when our kids went to Boot Camp. Hang in there. We are here for you and please let us know how you, and he, are doing.

Hi Ladies. My name is Becky. I live in Pearland, Texas (suburb of Houston).  My 19 year old son left last Thursday for Boot Camp at Great Lakes.  I miss him alot and find myself thinking about him all day long and wondering what is he doing right now.  I can't wait until I get his address and can start sending letters and cards.

The engine on our main car just recently blew a head gasket and was prohibitively expensive to fix (sob!).  We haven't replaced it yet so I will need to rent a car, too.  If several of us want to carpool, I'll rent one large enough.  I live off I-10 and Voss in Memorial.
