Welcome navmomtera!  I wish I had found this site before my son had left.  He went into BC Aug.1.  This site has been a lifeline for me.   I want to thank all the Mom's who keep providing words of wisdom and encouragement.  I know my son is really changing through this experience and so am I. Every Sister here has made a positive impact on my life.  Thank you so much.

Prayers for my son tomorrow please! He will finally take his swim quals. Unfortunately he - like me- can't seem to float but he has to do it for 5 minutes for his test! He can swim like a fish in everything else...

chris'smom-I have one friend with a husband and one friend with a son on the Stennis. I know they are both doing well. Did you need a question answered?

Camo- Mom, I SERIOUSLY doubt that he can get them privately!   They get ALL KINDS of vaccinations - and yep - all are mandatory if they want to be in the Navy!  My son has even had to get the small pox vaccination when he was deployed the first time.  He has gotten shots SEVERAL times during his 3 and a half years in!

kathy-I see you are from Texas City...before I moved to Nacogdoches I lived in La Marque for many years.  My best friend still lives there and we are HUGE LM Cougar fans--I drive down there for all the playoff games

kathy-I thought the same thing--when my son was talking about joining the military I told him that I would prefer he join either the Navy or Air Force because I felt like they were not in as much danger as the Army or Marines.
