Thanks Kathy :) We are excited and the 3d ultrasound we did 2 weeks ago made it so much more real for him, said he feels like a dad now and even more so I can feel the little guy. Yeah no problem, ask away. What I don't know or remember I can ask Rob so I'll always have something for you. He seemed to enjoy it which always makes for a decent time. Inside info is always good to have too.

Good morning all and welcome bstmn280! Its been awfully quiet here! My husband left the BR in September and is home safe with me now and we are throroughly enjoying it. He started school last month which he is still getting used to after not having any school for almost 10 years :) Well you all wanted to know when it happened, so surprise! We are expecting our first, a baby boy, July 23rd! It was a bit of a surprise but we are excited nonetheless and the little guy gets his own sailor room :) Kathy, Rob was a DCman and I could answer possibly any questions you have, so ask away if you have any!

Bstmn, they just left for patrol. My son is a culinary specialist. When your son comes home between A School and going over, he can work with his recruiter for 5 days and get back those days on his leave. My son is having a good time and they do get time off to go into Tokyo. They can Skype and facebook so you can keep in touch. Like the USS Blue Ridge Facebook page.

Happy Holidays Everyone,

I had my Sailor home for the first time in 3 years, it was nice, unfortunately her hubby just got underway at the beginning of Dec. with his ship the USS Sterett so this was the first Christmas the two of them have been apart in 4 years. 1 thing about being on the Blue Ridge is they were always home for the major Holidays!!  Katie is getting settled in San Diego, she and Matt are buying a house there. She loves her new Command. Hope everyone is doing OK.

We did the same thing when we were on active duty - we would have a house full of airmen at both Thanksgiving and Christmas. It was wonderful to be able to give them a great meal when far from home. I hope my son has the same opportunity and will say a prayer of thanks for those that open their home to him.

I understand how you feel Linn - my son was in some of these pics at the orphanage as well and will not be home for Christmas - my first one without all my kids here so taking it pretty hard. However, I am so proud of him for serving his country and I am sure it will be a Christmas he will never forget.

PS. Patrick was home for Thanksgiving and was in our Veterans day parade here.  Had his pic in the paper, on the news etc handing out American flags to the kids along the way.  He came up to work and at that time it didn't register who Kathleen was, she never got to meet him!  But our maintenance man (a 20 yr Navy vet) talked with him endlessly, and our admin, etc.   He is in Virginia now, just passed his SAMI instructor course.
