Just an update. The ship left Brisbane Sunday and and will be back in Cairns (or however its spelled ha) in just under a week. Rob said they are "playing Navy" with the Australians. He's looking forward to getting there as not everyone got mail, including him, and being able to go out. Wants to scuba dive and skydive!

Ahhh I believe Rob has pictures on facebook of that. Makes sense now ha. That's a bummer Danielle missed it, looked like fun. But I guess ts just one of those things. Sounds like touring at this port would be nice. Too bad its winter in Australia. I wonder what those temps consist of? I'm sure it'll just be nice for everyone to get off the ship and have stuff to do, way more than Noumea. I think this captain is not making them work while they're there but not positive on that. Hopefully rest and relaxation for all!

The ceremony of Crossing the Line is an initiation rite in the, U.S. Navy, U.S. Coast Guard, U.S. Marine Corps, and other navies that commemorates a sailor's first crossing of the Equator.[1] Originally, the tradition was created as a test for seasoned sailors to ensure their new shipmates were capable of handling long rough times at sea. Sailors who have already crossed the Equator are nicknamed (Trusty) Shellbacks, often referred to as Sons of Neptune; those who have not are nicknamed (Slimy) Pollywogs.

This is the offical description of it. Basically they do lots of silly things to them since they can't do anything bad. Make sure they wear clothes that can be thrown away because they get green slimed squirted on them and other things. Katie said she never had so much salt water poured over her in her whole life when she did it. It's a fun day for them all.

I'm not sure what a wog day is either. As far as Rob, he was excited to say he never got sick. When the captain came on they said they were taking on like 45 nots of wind and if they turned the ship would go side to side and I find that scarier. Said at the fron the ship was going 20 some feet up and down! They left again this morning and are 16 hours ahead now if anyone is wondering. They added another hour just a few days ago. Only underway for 2 days before they pull in again and I think they get about a week. Hope your daughter had a good birthday Blondie, or as good as she could considering :)

Well congrats to Katie! Rob has been for some time and was pondering how many times he has crossed the equator. He lost count. Said the seas were rough the last few days and I was talking to him when the captain made an announcement to make sure everything is super secure. His new shop is in the front of the ship and he hasn't been enjoying that. First time he threw up in 4 years! Almost made it, but not quite ha ha.

Happy 4th Of July Everyone

I heard from Katie yesterday and yes they were pulling in today. She said they'll be doing Wog day on there way back from Australia not on the way. She's excited because she's a Shellback already and gets to do the initiating this time!!

I have heard from mine, they pull in today for 3 days I believe it is. Rob isn't too happy because the CNC decided they are collared shirt ports and like my sailor, I know a good amount of people didn't bring any.

I talked to the hubby today and indeed they are still leaving a few weeks until end of August. He said the Navy will be flying a lot of people out from this underway, a lot from Australia. Hoping my sailor is one of them. I wish I could find that dang button. I bet the Navy is hiding it so no wonder its no where to be found.....lol. glad you're enjoying Katies time home. It only feels fast when its at the end. Hope she's enjoying her time home and gets to go everywhere she wants to.
